Tri-x 4x5 in Readyload31 Jul 2003 01:10 GMT2
I am wondering WHY Kodak is unwilling to make Tri-X 4x5 available in
Readyload?  Tri-x is a great film, and it does hold up well as far as
local contrast is concerned when you do "Minus Development".  I can't
believe there is ONLY ONE Kodak Black and White Readyload choice, and

Using Really Old FIlm30 Jul 2003 12:39 GMT5
I have several hundred sheets of boxed and sealed Super Panchro Press Type B
Film -- Expiration date June 1957.  Aside from short power failures and
transfers to larger storage lockers, this film is reported to have been
refrigerated at a local US Army depot.  I bought it surplus ...
Is it becoming harder to get sheet film processed?30 Jul 2003 05:02 GMT3
I send all my E6 to a local lab but am concerned that they will drop it.
Have any of your local labs shut down or converted to digital only?

Help: tripod recommendation28 Jul 2003 11:55 GMT1
I'm hoping someone can recommend a tripod for me that will accommodate an
old Burke and James 5x7 that has been converted to a 4x5. I mention the
conversion because the B&J is quite hefty. I have two smaller tripods now, a
Tiltall and a smaller, cheaper something-or-other but I ...
150 or 210 for landscape on 4x526 Jul 2003 01:25 GMT5
A 150 is kinda semi-wide ain't  it?  Why use a 210?
digital print on baryt25 Jul 2003 20:09 GMT1
compared to the united states large format photography is pretty small in my

laserprinter direct on barytpaper (agfa mcc111) - the quality is awesome!

Why use tilts on a landscape infinity composition?25 Jul 2003 00:56 GMT6
Won't just locking all detents to their default position work?

White Lightning strobes?24 Jul 2003 03:41 GMT6
I'm considering getting some White Lightnings, and I wondered if people here
had some comments on them (or suggestions on alternatives).  What I'm
looking to do is both portraiture and location shooting (architecture).  Of
all the current systems, the White Lightning X-series seems ...
Architectural photography23 Jul 2003 07:49 GMT3
I must freely admit that I'm getting into architectural work using medium
format (Bronica ETR), but since this is where all the architectural guru's
are, I hope you'll forgive me my sins.
I'm in the process of getting into architectural photography, and could use

What is the color of Rodinal Developer (concentrate) when it is brand
new?  Does it have a clear color, or brownish?

Steve Simmons how about a 100% digital art mag?21 Jul 2003 16:46 GMT1
It is the future Steve. Go for it. Fewer and fewer large format and film
photographers every day. More and more digital in all formats. And I know this
won't interest you Steve, but far more advertisers in the digital field now.
Think about it. Opportunity knocks. (grin)
Where can I get a slip-on (clip on) filter holder for filters to fit lens that is not threaded?21 Jul 2003 11:57 GMT5
Outside of hand holding the filter in front of the lens (gaffer's tape a
possibility?). I have been searching for a filter holder for a lens that
is not threaded. The outside of the housing for the front element is
about 38.5 mm (or 39) in diameter, which I presume would take ...
