USD $2,400 apparently. Ouch.
About USD $700 more than the Canon 70-200 F2.8 L IS.
Will it be better?
Digital night photos aren't as good as film31 Jul 2009 04:18 GMT12
A friend who is a professional photographer asked me to research this
problem. He complains that digital night photographs -- e.g, a
cityscape at night with lights coming from windows in buildings,
street lights, signs, etc. don't look as good, or accurate as film

Like he was going to keep those shots?  Is this a joke?

Is the 18-55mm EFS IS f3.5-5.6 lens that comes with the TI1 kit any better
than the 18-55mm EFS f3.5-5.6 lens that came with my Canon Rebel XT? I know
the new one has stabilization built-in but I don't need that for that lens.
Should I just buy the body and keep my old lens?
Kenko 2X Teleconverter - NO MANUAL FOCUS???????????????28 Jul 2009 20:08 GMT1
I have a Sony A100 DSLR with two nice lenses.  A Tamron AF
18-250/3.5-6.3 DI II Macro Lens and my new Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 Di
Macro Lens.  Wanted to expand the magnification for my zoom lens and
also for my 90mm macro so I got a Kenko Teleplus MC4 DG 2X
Canon:  We can't make good WA lenses to save our lives, but we did27 Jul 2009 20:25 GMT14
Most people are aware that anything Canon under 50mm is a waste of
money.  So much so that Nikon apparently sells nearly as many 14-24mm
f2.8 AF-S zooms to Canon FF users as to Nikon FF users!  But the new
shift lenses seem to be different.  For about $2k, Canon can build a
Canon's new "hybrid" IS25 Jul 2009 02:26 GMT12
Looks interesting - especially the comments re working with macro systems.

I wonder if a 70-200l F2.8 IS "replacement" might be one of the first
lenses to use the new system if this is true:
How many of you still use filters?25 Jul 2009 02:20 GMT51
Just curious.
Not asking about using them as protection against lens damage, by the way.

Vacuum Cleaner for Camera22 Jul 2009 03:14 GMT3
I have a squeeze-bulb blower to clean the
inside of my D3.  On seeing the dust, it
seems to me that a suitable vacuum cleaner
would be useful.  Does anyone know of one
Tamron 17-50mm Barrel Distortion20 Jul 2009 02:26 GMT5
I have just got a Tamron 17-50mm Lens. I'm very happy with the speed
of it and picture sharpness. It is a bit noisy when hunting for focus
but it generally focuses vaey fast.
There is a very noticable Barrel Distortion with it. It is obviously

Contrast this with the evasion, obfuscation and avoidance Canon has
displayed during the discoveries of the myriad problems that have
plagued their cameras over the past five years.  Only when their back
is to the wall does Canon seem to address blatant design or production
