I thought these were dead, but bottom one is feeding.  Some sort
of weird growth on them.  Not sure if it's pollen, or some sort
of fungus.

I would like to upgrade from my Fuji S5200 to an SLR.  I checked with
the local college and they demand their students buy minimum a D50.
With the body - $900 - and a couple of lenses it adds up to $1400 -
$1500. Does this mean there is nothing worth buying that costs less
