A few snips from the report FYI:
RAW or not RAW? :)08 May 2008 15:39 GMT56
You edit RAW image. After editing is done you save the pic in jpg format. Is
this for you final product or do you edit this jpg too?
You know I still don't fill advantage of shooting RAW over JPG. For now
looks to me like working with RAW takes more time.

Canon's Boring 85mm F1.2 L07 May 2008 22:17 GMT7
Now slrgear.com have posted test results for the Nikkor 85mm f1.4 on Fx,
you can compare it with the Canon 85mm f1.2L. Blur index for the Nikkor
shows beautiful shapely curves right through f5.6. The Nikkor must be
built for comfort - not speed. The Canon lens is boringly almost ...
Capture NX batch problem07 May 2008 18:04 GMT2
I individually edited about 15 nef files, making
color corrections and cropping.  I then want to
resize all of the files to 200x300 pixels
and generate jpg files. To do this I:
EXIF and focus distance06 May 2008 22:33 GMT18
Using exiftool on a raw .cr2 file from a Canon 40D shows quite a lot
of data about the camera, the lens, and their current settings, as
well as data about the picture. There is information about the focus
mode (one-shot, AIservo, etc.). One thing notably missing is the focus

Broken lens is back from repair05 May 2008 19:50 GMT31
The 70-200mm f/2.8 VR Nikkor that was mounted on my D300 when it was
dropped has finally come back home. They didn't fix the scratches,
which were minor anyway and mostly confined to the hood.
They replaced the lens mount. I thought it had seemed a little loose.
D200 firmware upgrade strangeness?05 May 2008 18:31 GMT12
I got my D200 back from repair (worn out shutter/CLA new firmware) and
it's now got a strange behavior: The CF (memory card) light flashes on
every 5 seconds unless turned off. Leaving it on overnight results in a
fully drained battery without even enough juice to indicate the ...
cs3 canon raw05 May 2008 16:44 GMT8
Enjoying the use of CS3 at work, but can't open/edit Canon Powershot G9 RAW
files.  Is that normal?  The Canon RAW editor that came with the camera is
horrid, plus it takes over a minute to open each RAW image.
Suggestions for portable storage device for camera files05 May 2008 15:15 GMT25
What are some of the options to save/store a cameras pictures, (on CF card)
while away
from a computer?
My DSLR produces RAW files of about 9-10,000kb and it would be handy to
