"Healing Brush" and Capture NX11 Apr 2008 14:58 GMT14
In Photoshop, I often use the "Healing Brush Tool" to
make small alterations.  It is excellent at "copying"
the neighboring texture into an area, with a near
seamless border.  Is there anything like it in
ViewNX thumbnail problem11 Apr 2008 12:11 GMT7
ViewNX often gives me the wrong thumbnails, from other pictures then the
ones I click on. If I resize the thumbnails to large, the problem
disappears, but if I resize them to small again, sometimes the real picture
remains, but sometimes I get the same wrong thumbnail again.
Mac Leopard support for Nikon SW10 Apr 2008 14:27 GMT2
I've just taken delivery of a new D300 with the 18-200 VR DX lens and
looking around there seems to be issues with the bundled Nikon Capture NX
and Nikon Transfer software working well/at all under Mac OSX Leopard.
Does anyone know latest status on this - are there any patches, ...
Bang for the Buck lenses10 Apr 2008 09:37 GMT11
Not spam - go figure.
Being new to Canon DSLRs (the Rebel XT), I started reading through this
newsgroup for ideas about possible lenses.
The first bang for the buck lens was the Canon 50mm f/1.8, which I tacked
memory card choices10 Apr 2008 04:46 GMT12
There is a list of "approved" memory cards for my
D3.  Having decided on 4G size, a quick look at
Amazon reveals prices from $33 to $85 for new
cards. It is not obvious how to choose.  Any

Opinions wanted:  Which camera, given specs09 Apr 2008 13:04 GMT24
I currently have a Sony a720 point and shoot.  While it takes really
good pictures, I find that "fiddling" (mostly trial and error...a lot
of errors and throw out pictures) with the settings in manual mode I
get better results that automatic.  Mostly, I am an
nef to tiff09 Apr 2008 09:44 GMT48
What software would you recommend to convert nef
to tiff?  Google returns numerous results.  One
that allows batch operation on numerous files
would be best.
Is this the China newsgroup?09 Apr 2008 03:21 GMT12
I used to complain when one China merchant posted one time in 3 days
with:
"China crap floods the newsgroups"
Since I got many complaints I stopped doing it. Isn't it wonderful
Nikon 14-24 - Bad Images09 Apr 2008 01:57 GMT56
How come, with arguably the best ultra-wide lens ever made (zoom or
prime, any format), nearly all of the "sample photos" posted in forums
are total schlock?
Are no-hopers lining up to buy this fantastic thing for bragging rights?
Wespro 5060s - 5MP Digital Camera09 Apr 2008 00:12 GMT3
This is very sleek and compact camera from Wespro. It is really easy
to carry and matches with the industry standard. The DS 5060s from
Wespro has interpolation up to 10 mega pixel. It can also be used as a
web camera when attached to your computer. It has Pict Bridge

ufraw --size ignores 2nd dimension08 Apr 2008 21:49 GMT3
The command:
ufraw-batch --out-type=jpeg --wb=camera --interpolation=ahd \
    --size=3600,2000 --compression=85 dsc_0004.nef
appears to ignore the "2000"; likewise if I change ',' to 'x'.

Somebody has to react to something besides overwhelming spam!
Canon rules, Nikon drools?
Despite measured performance most Nikon lenses are worth the price because?
Canon is for girly men? And for people who like to buy recycled old
Pentax K20D or Canon 40D or Canon XSI07 Apr 2008 23:27 GMT12
I primarily shoot 35mm, medium format and large format.  New baby
coming next month so its time for a dSLR.
I'm considering the Pentax K20D, Canon 40D, or upcoming Canon XSI.
Mom has an old Canon EOS film camera she no longer uses.  She would
