Nikon D-50 Battery EN-EL3a04 Dec 2007 02:06 GMT12
I would like to get a second battery. Is this one of those cases where it's
not a good idea to look at anything but an actual Nikon branded battery?
D200 bad for left-eyed people03 Dec 2007 23:02 GMT20
Having now owned my D200 for almost a year, I finally figured out one of
the bizarre little twists of the camera.  The focus area selection has
always been a bit of a mystery to me.  I'd set what I want, and some time
later, it would be on some other setting, and I'd have no clue ...
D80: clock is off...03 Dec 2007 22:50 GMT7
ever since my D80 came back from Nikon (where it was being repaired)
the clock is off..  I set it to Eastern Time (New York, Toronto,
Lima), but it shows wrong time when photos were shot..
right now I just took a photo, it's 12/01, 11:00 am..  it says photo
Focus distance03 Dec 2007 16:38 GMT8
I have no idea how autofocus systems work, however I was wondering if the
process involves measuring the distance to the point of focus.  If so, do
any cameras record this in EXIF data.

No wonder Canon's fall to pieces03 Dec 2007 12:18 GMT7
It's the shock.  I fired a 40D today and the E-3.  40D?  Like a sledge
hammer hitting a metal plate.  The E-3 shutter/mirror actuation is so
soft you can barely feel it.
SB 800 GN function question03 Dec 2007 08:11 GMT1
The Nikon SB800 has a GN function that can be changed for example to 2.0
mtrs. The LED reads from 1.8 to 2.2 mtrs.
But why? Everything is lit up like a X-mas tree from the lens on and
forward. So why do they have the first number? If you take a picture along a
arca swiss or really right stuff03 Dec 2007 07:56 GMT8
Folks
I am thinking of buying a Wimberley Sidekick for flight photography.  My
current ball heads are not suitable. I am tossing up between the Really
Right Stuff BH-55Pro or teh Arca Swiss ZI sp.  Any views on a comparison
Consensus on the new Olympus E-3 performance03 Dec 2007 03:56 GMT4
Lags every other camera in it's class.  Specifically, the Nikon D300,
the Canon 40D and the Sony A700.  It's only shining point appears to
be it's fast AF, claimed to be the fastest and this seems true, at
least when not using Live View.  IMO, Olympus has gone as far as it
Help! Digital Rebel black curtain problem03 Dec 2007 00:45 GMT14
I have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. Yesterday I began having a black
curtain blocking part of every picture. Over the course of about 10
shutter actuations the curtain progressed further and further across
the image, to where now pictures are almost completely blacked out.
nikon capture NX vs. Adobe Raw to recover over exposed details02 Dec 2007 23:47 GMT10
Hi all... I talked to a nikon rep who tried to convince me that
capture NX would do a better job than adobe Raw (I have CS3) at
recovering details in an overexposed image.  He even said it would
substitute for a 3 stop ND filter for shooting moving water in

Ken gets 'em going02 Dec 2007 20:37 GMT13
He must have been getting some hate mail from D300 fan boys about these
comments:
"High ISO noise is different from the D200. Neither is much better than
the other. High ISO noise has almost nothing to do with image quality
Nikon D1 - Is this a good camera?02 Dec 2007 01:25 GMT3
Can someone tell me if this is a good camera and what it is worth? Thanks.
Would you pay $615.99 for a lens hood?01 Dec 2007 21:09 GMT10
Olympus thinks you might.

10-12 meg versus 20 meg+ sensors.  Price difference01 Dec 2007 20:53 GMT8
Does it really cost Canon (and perhaps, Nikon?) so much more to
produce a viable 21 meg sensor of the same physical size as a 10-12
meg sensor?  The wafer yield must be much lower for them to need a
$2000 premium over a lower megapixel sensor.  Unless the camera that
