E-51012 Dec 2007 09:22 GMT52
So now that the Olympus e-510 with 2 lenses is around $550 US what is the
main competition with the same features at that price?  I know its not a pro
camera that you would buy a lot of glass for, but what other dslr would you
get for the money?
D300 testdrive11 Dec 2007 17:53 GMT8
In another post I already brought up the issue I have with my D300. The
pictures are too dark when there is sunshine involved in any way. Strangely
enough this is not visible on the LCD screen. There they look perfect.
Anyway, I managed to grab a handful and grind them thru ...
Nikon PB-4 Bellows (exploring tilt/shift options)11 Dec 2007 12:17 GMT15
I have a few questions for anyone who has a PB-4 or is familiar. And
some discussion below.
1. Do I need an extension ring to mount on a D200?
2. Does at least one of the end caps on the 4 rails come off? I saw one
Nikon D-Lighting11 Dec 2007 03:16 GMT7
Any thoughts on the Nikon D-Lighting scheme? I'm not inclined to be
impressed by it but was talking to a guy said he read the programmer
claimed this routine 'could do things that cannot be done any other way'
<paraphrased> and I said of course it could be done with a raw file,
Do you think the Sony 700 is as good as the Nikon D300?10 Dec 2007 14:39 GMT28
Apparently, they have the same sensor, and even the same 640x480 display...
I know the sensor isn't everything, there is also auto focus speed and accuracy,
tone curves, all kinds of crap...
Now I imagine that the Nikon is the better camera, due to Nikons superior use of
Nikon D70s out of focus10 Dec 2007 12:53 GMT9
I have a D70s and a Nikon 18-200 lens. When the lens is at the wide
angle end (most notably 18 mm) the camera focuses at about 2 or 3
meters. Thus anything in the distance will be slightly blurred, at least
when viewed full size. I always have to zoom to 200 mm and focus and
Image (de)stabilizer10 Dec 2007 11:41 GMT30
Couldn't figure out why my 10- and 30-second time exposures of Comet Holmes
with the new EF 70-300mm lens on the Canon 40D kept coming out with
wandering star trails.  I thought my tripod legs or mount must be slipping.
Then I remembered the new lens featured image stabilization ...
Quick Release or not10 Dec 2007 11:23 GMT24
I've had quick release heads on my tripods for a while but occasionally
run into the problem of having to take a plate off something so a friend
or family member can use a tripod.
how many of you use a quick release on your tripod instead of always
D300 manual09 Dec 2007 22:25 GMT23
What is the problem in America these days? I can't order any photo equipment
from Amazon or other companies, because I live in Europe. OK, screw that, I
just have it send to my sister in Washington and she sends it to me ;-))
But what's with the D3 and D300 manual? Nikon USA in ...
Kata, Lowepro = overpriced Chinese junk?09 Dec 2007 06:08 GMT19
Seems that the other bag companies actually make bags in the U.S. or
Britain.  How come Lowepro and especially Kata cost as much or more?
Double Blind Testing to Kill the Trolls09 Dec 2007 04:26 GMT12
Why haven't I ever seen someone set up a double blind, scientifically
based, and unbiased review of camera technology?  Are people THAT
afraid of the truth?  Jesus, it would be trivial to do with a bit of
time and some trustworthy people.
Who is Jesus?09 Dec 2007 01:58 GMT4
Who is Jesus?
Without a doubt, you have often heard the claim that Jesus is God, the
second person in the "Holy trinity." However, the very Bible which is
used as a basis for knowledge about Jesus and as the basis for
D80 and tracing moving subjects08 Dec 2007 06:02 GMT6
According to the specifications, the D80 AF system has one cross type
sensor and so-called broad (or dynamic) coverage that will let the
AF-system track moving subjects in AF-C (and AF-A?) mode. However, the
manual has very little to say about how you activate this feature.
Best Compact Flash card?07 Dec 2007 23:36 GMT23
Need to get a CF card to go with my new Rebel XTi and was just wondering
which one I should go with. I'm guessing at least 2GB, but since it's been 5
years since I needed to buy one (256MB @ 49.99) I was wondering which ones I
should look at and which ones to avoid.
GPS logger07 Dec 2007 21:38 GMT24
I am looking into purchasing a GPS logger for geotagging.  I have a
dSLR with multiple lenses so I am looking for something VERY portable
(small).  I have researched the topic, but before I take the plunge, I
was wondering if I might get some feedback from people who are
