Years ago my Nikon F5 fell to the ground because the Nikon provided strap opened up. I read on Ken Rockwell's site that this has happened to others. I replaced the F5's strap with the strap from my old Panasonic VCR

I'm not referring to it as NR or noise reduction because it isn't the same thing. NR is "dark frame subtraction" and is used when exposure times are longer than 1 second and heat build-up in the sensor creates noise.
