| Canon 40D... sharp? | 17 Oct 2007 00:11 GMT | 9 |
Reading 40D reviews the one common praise is 'much sharper than my 20D/350D/400D!' Is it really that big of a difference? I always thought sharpness is primarily a function of the lens, not camera. Or have they (Canon) gone for

| 4/3rds consortium needs to shrink the bayonette to really shrink the cameras | 17 Oct 2007 00:06 GMT | 5 |
It's true that with any lens you need speed with, you need a certain diameter objective. 50mm f2 = 25mm. 200mm f4 = 50mm. But, take a look at something like the Olympus 35mm f3.5 macro lens. If it were a prime lens, not a macro, it could literally be less than an inch

| DSLR Newbie - Asheville NC Foliage Trip - Advice Needed | 16 Oct 2007 01:41 GMT | 17 |
I'm a DSLR Newbie, having bought my Nikon D80 about 2 months ago. I'm planning a trip to the Asheville NC area in a few weeks to take in and shoot the fall foliage, and can use some advice. 1. I'll be using Nikon's 18-200VR lens, and figure that I will need a

Folks, Does any have a manual for the AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED lens? Mine seems to have arrived missing the manual, so while I will be chasing this, if I can get an electronic copy or scan that would

| Now that Nikon is outselling Canon.... | 15 Oct 2007 12:55 GMT | 43 |
Are we going to see myriad reports of failures of all kinds in the Nikons? That was people's excuse for reports of all sorts of problems with Canon DSLRs, they made many, therefore we heard more reports of problems. Makes sense.

| Nikon D80 Message - r06 | 14 Oct 2007 23:05 GMT | 2 |
Often when I'm composing a shot with my Nikon D80, I see a "(r06)" (no quotes) in the lower right of the viewfinder. I've been shooting exclusively in aperure-priority lately, so I'm not sure if it comes up in other shooting modes.

| Two MORE problems with plastic-bodied cameras | 14 Oct 2007 15:46 GMT | 18 |
They attract dust FAR more readily (owing no doubt to static build-up) than metal bodied cameras and in the sun, black plastic bodies heat up hotter and faster than metal bodies, even those painted black. The IR signature of a black painted magnesium camera is far brighter than

A cheezy, cut-rate 10 meg DSLR at that. Poor Olympus and Pentax. Despite multiple camera releases, they can't move out of the basement.
