Police-photog interactions on the increase21 Oct 2007 03:51 GMT2
In Britain at least, seems like every week there is some problem.
Do they think that a terrorist would use a big DSLR to take pictures
instead of a covert cellphone?  Are they that stupid?  Also, some of
these minimum wage losers (not the police, but company flunkies and

what pentax lens for indoor portrait?21 Oct 2007 00:50 GMT15
(and especially pentax specialists)
I own a K100D and use the kit zooms very likely outdoors, but indoor, when I
want to take portraits of my kids, I prefer my old 50mm f2 M-mount to avoid
using the flash. my problem is this lens is manual focus and I miss 9/10
Sensor needs to be "cleaned"?20 Oct 2007 18:25 GMT11
Took my Nikon D50 to the local camera shop today.  I am seeing what looks
like two moisture spots on my photos.  Against a blue sky the spots are
noticeable.  Against any other background you won't see the spots.  At the
camera shop, he blew out the dust, took a sky shot and said ...
cheap "studio" lighting20 Oct 2007 09:48 GMT7
Once upon a time I had a real studio in a Gloucester (MA) storefront.
Small fortune invested in lighting, backdrops, etc. Another small
fortune invested in darkroom. Now I do this stuff for fun, on a budget.
I've been experimenting with low-cost multi-flash setups, since I don't

Hello.  I would like to get feedback on my new site.  It's a
collection of photographs from my travels over the last few years.
Most of the pics were shot with a Canon EOS Digital SLR (8 megapixel)
with the standard lense.  I also use a 4.1 megapixel Canon SDS which

I'll be in the States in 2 weeks and I'm thinking to buy something

Nikon zoom lens looks good corner-to-corner18 Oct 2007 06:03 GMT8
The 24-85 "consumer" grade Nikkor is. IMHO, a better lens than you
might expect for its modest price. Here's a sample, and this page is a
format I'm thinking of using for future real world examinations of
amateur-price-range equipment. Not everyone needs or can afford

TTL flash with remote flash for Nikon17 Oct 2007 11:16 GMT11
I finally bought the Nikon d40x for my friend's daughter and got a
great price of $660 with a 2 GB SD card and no shipping.  Now I am
waiting for the D200s to come down for me.
However, I was reading the Strobist blog and learned some interesting

A Rant from Canada... about prices17 Oct 2007 04:55 GMT44

for use when cruising to attempt to catch photos of whales, shore
features, etc. Several choices are available. My rant is using only
one of the choices, simply because I know the precise numbers for that
