Upon cursory examination on dpreview, etc.....03 Sep 2007 09:59 GMT12
The new Panasonic DSLR looks as toy-like and flimsy as the Canon Rebel
XTi and the Sony Alpha bodies.  It seems that for the near future,
Nikon, Olympus and Pentax RULE the entry level DSLR field.
Degenerates in this newsgroup03 Sep 2007 09:58 GMT27
Degenerates with an uncontrollable urge to attempt to prevent me from
addressing my question to this group.
Even, trying to fend off those types by starting with a disclaimer:

New Panasonic DSLR with 10 MP and Leica image stabilised zoom lens03 Sep 2007 07:51 GMT8
"Eighteen months after the L1 took PMA 2006 by storm Panasonic has
announced its second digital SLR, the Lumix DMC-L10. As well as a more
conventional design and a new 10MP LiveMOS sensor (which we presume is
the same as that used in the Olympus E-410) the L10 features a wealth

Close-up of plastic cheeziness03 Sep 2007 00:55 GMT18
Take a look at this close-up of the new Panasonic DSLR.  The little
rubber cover for the USB plug still has the flashing on it from when
they moulded it.  The slot the adjuster wheel fits in looks like it
done with a hand file.  This is another flaw of plastic, it changes

Lens Caps02 Sep 2007 17:32 GMT22
One thing I have always disliked about my Canon P&S was the lens cap.
Very cheap and would always fall off.
I recently read the same thing again but this time they were talking about
DSLR.

Nikon-Non US Warranty-So?02 Sep 2007 01:13 GMT28
How much does it matter about USA Warranties?  Are these cameras
different?  Are they made with different materials?  What happens if
they break?  Is the warranty coverage only a year?
How do you tell the difference between legit stores selling cameras
Frederick solves the 8x12 borderless Inkjet Paper dilemma!01 Sep 2007 22:27 GMT24
A sole contributor "frederick"lost@sea.com made a significant
contribution to the enlightenment of this newsgroup. A number of
noisy, useless louts like a mob of angries with pitchforks and torches
only created a din. But bitched about the 8x12 issue.
Rational decisions.01 Sep 2007 18:56 GMT3
I have a Canon 20D and have become interested in the 40D, which is about
ready to ship to droolers like me.
Got to thinking about technology, like computers, where the latest stuff is
only marginally better.
Canon's gaping system holes STILL exist01 Sep 2007 04:22 GMT39
The 40D is an upgrade on the 30D, no question.  But it's no D200 and
so Canon continues without a real prosumer, semi-pro body.  Your
choices are simple;  $1300 for the 40D then a huge jump of $1500 to
the 5D, which itself is technically inferior (build wise) to the
I pity Askey and Dpreview01 Sep 2007 01:58 GMT20
Askey's a millionaire now many times over thanks the the Amazon
acquisition of his site, but how now is Phil going to keep kissing
Canon's a.s beyond all reason with these new Nikons in the picture??
