ZigView anyone use it?07 Sep 2007 04:40 GMT6
Once again today while taking pictures I wanted to see what it would be like
with a non moving LCD.
it was a pain in the butt.
while the camera is tight in a corner even those angle finders would be a

Autofocus problems with the 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens used with the Rebel XT (EOS 350D)06 Sep 2007 17:49 GMT1
My 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens was not autofocusing well with my Rebel XT
body. Often the focus would end up being way in front of what I
thought I was focusing on... I mean WAY in front, by maybe 50 ft...
although it varied.

Air coming through lens?06 Sep 2007 12:16 GMT18
I've just purchased a Nikon 18-200mm VR lens for my D40.  Rushed home
from work tonight, fitted it to the camera body, and have been having
fun testing it out.  So far I'm very impressed with it - especially
the VR - and it's going to allow me to do much more than the 18-55mm
CCD chips VS CMOS chips06 Sep 2007 04:40 GMT37
I have read that CCD chips are more sensitive than CMOS chips and are better
for dim lighting.
The information I have is a few years old and wondering if its still the
same way.
Pro opinion, Canon versus Nikon Pt II05 Sep 2007 21:52 GMT1
I wonder how many people who jumped ship from Nikon to Canon made the
same statement (that legacy lenses would prevent this) as Reichman is
now making regarding jumping BACK to Nikon FROM Canon??
Seems myopic, given history.
Survey: camera straps05 Sep 2007 20:52 GMT47
Y, N only.
==========
1) Do you have a strap on your camera(s)?
2) Do you use it all of the time without exception when handholding?
BestPriceCameras.com's False Advertising05 Sep 2007 01:52 GMT10
FYI, beware of bestpricecameras.com advertising extremely low prices on
Nikon D80 ($299 for body only). This is a bait and switch ripoff of the
worst kind.  If you order one, when you confirm your order you will find
that the camera you will get for the advertised price is what ...
White balance04 Sep 2007 16:13 GMT23
Is white balance information used to determine the way a (raw) image is
displayed, or is it used to cause the sensor to record the information
differently in the first place?

Interesting criticism of Olympus now moves on to Canon04 Sep 2007 15:46 GMT24
The criticism (well-founded) that new Olympus DSLRs lack the dyanmic
range of cameras with larger pixels can now move to Canon when they
begin comparing the output from its new 21 megapixel sensor with
medium format sensors sporting the same pixel count with much larger

Canon and Nikon FFs, they both FAILED part of this task04 Sep 2007 03:17 GMT31
Why did they not go 4:3?  As I've stated before, MOST professional
photographic publishings are closer to 4:3 than that ancient 3:2
format.  There was nothing, absolutely nothing constraining them here
except having to please an aging group of pros whose teeth were cut on
In camera White balance.03 Sep 2007 13:16 GMT12
On my DSLR I mostly use Raw and therefore do not
bother with the on camera white-balance setting.
Been away and because I was running out of memory
cards, switched from Raw to jpg fine. Because I was
