I just called up Bestpricecameras.com to ask if they had the camera in stock
before I placed the order.
I was told they would only check if I placed the order over the phone.
no big deal but it did turn me off and I am willing to pay more someplace

So since less contrast "sometimes" means less sharpness, you end up
putting up with softer images?

I lent my camera out for 3 weeks, got it back, but to my horror the camera and
Sigma zoom wasn't working! Nikon 70 just flashed an error code!
After a bit of checking with other lenses that worked, I decided to check the
aperture ring - it MUST be locked at F22...

I have two Nikon lenses which I use on a D70s. Two questions: assuming
there is no visible dirt, how often should lenses be cleaned? Also,
any recommendations for solutions/techniques?

Yes, I'm a professional photographer, former Nikon shooter and I now shoot
Canon.
I have shot the MarkIII (A few weeks ago at the US Open in New York) and I
stopped shooting it 1 match.

The Canon DSLRs use simple switch contacts on a 2.5mm plug for the shutter
remote.
What does the Nikon (D80, etc) use?  Is it simply switch contacts, or some
kind of electronic signaling, or what?  What connector?

I've been out of "prosumer" photography for nearly 10 years, and have
decided to get back into things, and would like to float out an idea
of a DSLR and a 3 lens set.
