SLR Newbie - Step-up rings / lens cap questions30 Sep 2007 12:13 GMT18
I'm a new DSLR user, and I'm trying to build my kit.  I've got a new
D80 with standard 18-135 kit lens.
In October, I'm planning on getting the Nikon 50mm F/1.8 D AF Lens,
and 77mm Hoya Pro 1 Digital Circular polarizer with front threads,
Nikon will not go to full frame...30 Sep 2007 06:56 GMT136

Pentax istDS slow focus/hunting30 Sep 2007 06:33 GMT14
I was shooting the kids' soccer game today with the istDS and the 18-55
mm kit lens. I usually use my old manual F4 70-210 zoom, but I wanted to
try autofocus. For the most part things went well, but I missed a number
of shots because focusing was just too slow. Is this limited by ...

The New Guy29 Sep 2007 16:37 GMT8
I just recently moved up from a point and shoot to a Canon Rebel XT. I've
been lurking in the news group for awhile and reading the posts to learn
more about my new toy. I've read here and heard from others that the kit
lens(EFS 18-55mm) is not too good and should be replaced. I ...
Nikon D9029 Sep 2007 06:17 GMT3

Like a poor man's D200 was the D80 (which I love) will a poor man's D300 be
a D90 anytime soon???

Bottom 20-percent D70s image dark29 Sep 2007 01:57 GMT19
I have a D70s and recently encountered a problem whereby the bottom
20% of the frame of some shots were dark.  What I did was I set the
camera on a tripod, set the self-timer and got the shot.  I saw in the
LCD panel the darkened bottom and, leaving all settings the same, I
Nikon extension tube with teleconverter28 Sep 2007 19:03 GMT4
Nikon's AF-S TC series of teleconverters can only be used with a small
number of lenses because the teleconverters are designed in such a way
that the rear element of most lenses will contact the front element of
the teleconverter, possibly breaking them. You can only use the
Nikon D3 hints at a way "out" for Olympus28 Sep 2007 00:55 GMT29
Olympus needs a strategy to exit the confines of the 4/3rds sensor
without losing too much face.  Nikon's D3 is compatible with DX lenses
via an aperture stop that uses only part of the sensor (5 megapixels)
so people owning DX lenses won't necessarily have to dump them.

Another D80 Exposure Question26 Sep 2007 23:38 GMT3
When using in-camera exposure compensation (say -0.7), and then
auto-bracketing (say -1.0,0,+1.0) -----  Is the zero setting in
Auto-Bracketing equivalent to the -0.7 exposure compensation that the
camera is set to?  Or does the zero in Auto-Bracketing equal the default
Flash for Canon 40D26 Sep 2007 19:54 GMT27
I was wondering if anyone could give me a little info on these flashes at
Canon.

I cracked open the piggy bank and found I can get a flash and really think I
Pro opinion, Canon versus Nikon26 Sep 2007 18:08 GMT60
A  friend of mine was talking to a pro who was buying a D3, or
ordering one at any rate.  $6100 Canadian, $4995 U.S., 20% premium
even though the dollars are within 5-6% of each other.  Anyway, the
guy buying it said that Canon pro models are plagued with QC issues
D70 D80 Battery25 Sep 2007 21:15 GMT5
