Are there any new D-SLR cameras in development?
Are there certain times of the year when manufacturers release new cameras?
I think the Photokina show in Germany is one of those times but it's only
every other year.

Does anyone have any information, leaks or speculations on what the
successor to the D80 will be?  Also, any idea of when it might be announced?

I understand the Canon XT CMOS sensor has 12-bits of depth per color. Yet,
I have read that the RAW files from the XT are 24 bits (ie, 8 bits per
color). I have tried both settings in the camera (sRGB and Adobe RGB) and
