Build-in flash on Pentax *ist DL26 Aug 2007 22:49 GMT1
According to the camera manual, pressing manual flash button causes
flash to pop-up and charge.
However I am noticing that flash does not pop-up uless it is charged.
In other words it charges then pops up.
Spelunking With The Mk III26 Aug 2007 11:16 GMT16
With its weather sealing, metal body, and high ISO performance, the Mk III
is the perfect camera to go down under with.
Bret, this one's for you since I know you have many caves that you would
like to explore.

white balance with a Canon DSLR25 Aug 2007 01:14 GMT13
I bought a cloudy (white) filter off eBay for $5  to create reference
images to fix Canon's God awful "auto" white balance and their almost
never right 5500k of "flash" setting. It works and it works well too.
I might point out that tracing paper in a broken filter ring works

Lense for Canon 30d24 Aug 2007 15:52 GMT31
I am looking to buy the Canon 70 - 200 f/2.8 USM lense.  I mainly
shoot sports (volleyball, cycling) and I was wondering if I need to
spend the extra $500 bucks and get the IS USM version?  Isn't the IS
mainly for slower shutter speeds anyway?  Thanks for any help you can
CD recovery service?24 Aug 2007 13:55 GMT8
I have a bunch of pix copied to a CD a couple of years ago.  My
current PC cannot find the pictures, only the directory in which I put
them.
Are these forever lost?  Or are there services that can recover these?
ping: Rita (ebay question)24 Aug 2007 06:30 GMT54
A buyer offered a little discount to take a transaction off ebay (after
some bartering on my end on other points) I will not do it without
paypal & the chance to get the money back from my credit card if
something goes bad but is there any additional protection thru ebay that

Sound plausible, the press conference is at 10.00am in London tomorrow,
probably breaking earlier than that elsewhere in the world.

Nikon's d-lighting system24 Aug 2007 02:09 GMT3
Is this like Sony's contrast-taming process?
Nikon D3 - the real thing...24 Aug 2007 01:43 GMT16

pixels, 51pt AF, 9fps with AF tracking, 3.0" 922K (!) LCD monitor with
Live View, even a levelling function...
Noice.  Will the reality meet the specs?
Nikon, last holdout, adopts dust removal system23 Aug 2007 22:58 GMT5
On the D300.  It will be interesting to see if it actually works as no
other adopter's systems have, except of course Olympus who pioneered
it.

Whatever are they going to offer buyers?  Lenses like the 16-35mm L
that can't even support their 16 meg 1DsMkII?
