| average Nikon vs. good Sigma lens? | 12 Jul 2007 09:44 GMT | 8 |
I'm planing to buy a Nikon D40 with a kit lens 15-55/f3.5-5.6 (http:// www.foto-oehling.com/cgi-bin/Oehling.storefront/469488b6020d995427400a00011e05cf /Product/View/157702) and one additional lens to cover the range from 55mm up to 200mm. Now, I have a terrible dilemma between ...

| *Frame* Rate vs. *Refresh* Rate | 11 Jul 2007 00:04 GMT | 19 |
What is the difference between "frame rate" and "refresh rate"? Is it best for the frame rate to have a frequency the same as the power supply [60 Hz in USA/Canada, 50 Hz in Europe/Asia]? Is this true even if the video is digital and played through a digital plasma

| Newbie camera choice question | 10 Jul 2007 09:03 GMT | 11 |
I want a good dslr, such as Nikon D40x or Canon xti. Something that has interchangeable lenses, doesn't cost more than $2k with all the lenses and goodies, and that will do a good job. That question took 35 words.

| ISO settings, Noise in 'daylight' shooting conditions... | 10 Jul 2007 05:58 GMT | 19 |
I have a question regarding correct exposure in 'daylight' conditions either early morning or dusk with respect to ISO settings.... Would using a 'high' ISO setting have more pronounced ' noise' in images shot in reasonable daylight?

| Macro vs Normal Fixed Lenses | 10 Jul 2007 04:47 GMT | 5 |
I just got my Sigma 50mm F/2.8 Macro lense and have been blown away by the sharpness (I've only ever had consumer zoom lenses). I had hoped that this sharpness would also be there for more distant (ie, non-macro/closeup) but it doesn't seem to show a "night/day" difference

| Frustrated with Nikon DX | 09 Jul 2007 22:38 GMT | 56 |
I keep thinking about taking the plunge and buying a Nikon DSLR, but they still don't have the lenses right. With my film bodies, their 24-120mm VR lens stays on the camera 90% of the time, and I use it in the 24-28mm range surprisingly often. Or if I don't

| Beware the "hybrid aspheric" lens | 09 Jul 2007 17:20 GMT | 48 |
This means they've taken a moulded plastic aspheric lens and physically bonded it to a glass element or literally, moulded it against the glass element, applying the aspheric surface to the other side.

| One upmanship and Canon's claim | 09 Jul 2007 05:43 GMT | 86 |
"Someone" posted that Canon said the new 1DMkIII has the finest images of an DSLR, even better than their current FF models. I do not know if this is true. But if it is, does it matter much? By Sept or so, a new 5D (7D) will be out and it will likely be the number one imager at

| Maximum Data Transfer rate Nikon D200 & CF card? | 09 Jul 2007 02:56 GMT | 3 |
Folks, I have a number of Sandisk Extreme III CF cards to use in my Nikon D200. I was considering buying a few Extreme IV cards, as they are supposed to be twice as fast as the version III.

| More odd bokeh | 08 Jul 2007 22:06 GMT | 5 |
The swirl of green & white is a tree branch hanging in the foreground & shrubs with white seeds in the background: <http://www.edgehill.net/1/?SC=go.php&DIR=California/North/clear-lake/crow-bar/20 07-07-05/full-set&PG=2&PIC=10> I guess it's actually an example of bad bokeh but it's ...

| Really Right Stuff x Novoflex - Which is the best ? | 08 Jul 2007 18:47 GMT | 4 |
After a while waiting to get these accessories I am finally at a point where I am ready to get both a panorama head and a set of macro focusing rails. I have a set of macro focusing rails I purchased from Manfrotto about a year ago but they don't work for me considering the type of ...
