long shutter release cable15 Jul 2007 12:36 GMT15
I have a Sony DSC H1, and I am building a mount for it so that I can get
about a foot from feeding hummingbirds.  The Sony does not have a pre
drilled pre tapped
receptacle for the common shutter release cable.  So, I shall have to
Sigma 70-300 APO Macro15 Jul 2007 10:09 GMT3
I am new to DSLR photography and my wife just purchase me a Sigma 70-300 APO
Macro lens for my birthday, unforuately it arrived without any paperwork.
My questions are...
1. What do you have to do in order to move the switch from Normal to Macro.
Crap P&S cameras continue to be churned out15 Jul 2007 05:00 GMT5
And the only mandates are high pixel counts and long range and
MEDIOCRE zooms.  Pure junk.
Take at look at the 400 ISO of Queen Elizabeth through the Olympus.
It looks like she has smallpox.
Mamiya C330 vs Nikon D20014 Jul 2007 23:22 GMT18
My wife has been using the Mamiya C330 for years to shoot weddings.  In
an attempt to get into the digital age, we bought a Nikon D200 with a Nikon
ED 17-35mm f2.8 lens.  She swears that the Mamiya takes sharper pictures
that the Nikon.  Are the Mamiya optics better than Nikon?  ...

Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS14 Jul 2007 12:39 GMT1
Just put up the start of another Real World Lens Test. I have this lens on
rental for the next couple of weeks, but the first few days have been
fantastic.
So far, the bulk of my photos are backyard birds - but birds I never knew
Canon DS6041 Digital Rebel problem14 Jul 2007 01:27 GMT12
I hope the brilliance here can save me a few weeks of repair time. I have an
EOS digital rebel. Just last evening while taking pictures I noticed that
the LCD was only displaying about 1/5 of the total image. I transferred the
image to my PC and the same thing. There is no error ...

I'll Never Take A Nikon To A Black Tie Event Ever Again!13 Jul 2007 16:52 GMT20
Since the Canon Mk III can live up to the task of capturing the unwelcome
action from several uninvited guests that ensue.

Nikon raw (*.nef) support?13 Jul 2007 14:27 GMT74
My brand new Nikon D40x is my first DSLR, and also the first digicam
I've used that can output files in "raw".  I think I know now what that
means, but I'm having problems actually using them.
My camera has two "raw" modes, plain raw and "raw+basic".  I took the
Optical viewfinders have been eclipsed13 Jul 2007 12:37 GMT28
Using the 10x Live View mode on the Olympus cameras now allows more
precise focusing than an optical viewfinder can provide.  In some
cases with fast long lenses, the difference between precise focus and
moderately precise focus could be as little as a small fraction of a

The price of the A100 is down to $800 with lens... Time for those new
releases.
70-200 (or 300) lens: Canon fit12 Jul 2007 22:42 GMT14
I'm wanting to replace my Canon EF 80-200 4.5-5.6 lens, which is really not
very good at all. I'm thinking about the Sigma 70-300 APO DG (Macro), and
wonder how, in the opinion of those on here, this compares with the Tamron
equivalent (which is cheaper)? Also, would the Sigma be ...
