Image stabilization and tripod vs. monopod19 Jul 2007 07:37 GMT14
I know I'm supposed to turn off the IS on my Canon 17-85 zoom with the
camera on the tripod.
But what about a monopod?   Off or on?
People who put expensive lenses on "lesser" cameras19 Jul 2007 05:37 GMT136
Rather than putting say medium quality lenses on bodies with better
sensors.
Ever wonder why someone would put a $2000 on a run of the mill 6-10
megapixel DSLR when they would buy a better DSLR and outfit it with
Need help on deciding which Lens to get (Newbie question)19 Jul 2007 00:21 GMT18
I am a newbie and have mostly been shooting with a point-and-shoot
camera. I would like to move to Digital-SLR photography.
I like to travel and so I would mostly be using the camera while
travelling and shooting landscapes, scenery, city building etc.
Question about DOF18 Jul 2007 20:51 GMT12
Would a 70mm f/2.8 lens stopped down to f/5.6 have the same DOF as a
70mm f/5.6 wide open at f/5.6?
Curious, thx

Indisputable Proof Of How Well The 18-Month Rule Works!18 Jul 2007 20:00 GMT19
For all the disbelievers, doubters, and mathematically challenged here is a
classic example of picking up camera gear at a bargain and selling it for

What's wrong with my D70s?17 Jul 2007 21:53 GMT3
Taking pictures this past weekend. Most of the exposures were quite long. On
some of the exposures, a large dark band is seen at the bottom of the photo.
NO FLASH was used, and I would fire off a few more pictures and the band
would then disappear. I suspect something is wonky ...
Sony Carl Zeiss 135 f/1.7 - too sharp for the Maxxum 7D17 Jul 2007 18:47 GMT5
Wide open (f/1.7, 1/800, open shade, WB@7500K, from RAW, Maxxum 7D, ISO 100)
Unsharp maks... note the staircase in the middle, back petal.  This is
apparent in the RAW file as well.  See last linked image [W/O sharpening])
