I know I'm supposed to turn off the IS on my Canon 17-85 zoom with the
camera on the tripod.
But what about a monopod?   Off or on?

I am a newbie and have mostly been shooting with a point-and-shoot
camera. I would like to move to Digital-SLR photography.
I like to travel and so I would mostly be using the camera while
travelling and shooting landscapes, scenery, city building etc.

Would a 70mm f/2.8 lens stopped down to f/5.6 have the same DOF as a
70mm f/5.6 wide open at f/5.6?

I repeated a fireworks shoot I did back in my 35mm film days.  The results

For all the disbelievers, doubters, and mathematically challenged here is a
classic example of picking up camera gear at a bargain and selling it for
profit after 18-months of use.  And this is from one person!  Though his
prices don't meet the 40% off criteria they are an example ...

whatif any is a good software for digital editing,I realize that photoshop
is for those who know and NOT for those who want to learn.

Taking pictures this past weekend. Most of the exposures were quite long. On
some of the exposures, a large dark band is seen at the bottom of the photo.
NO FLASH was used, and I would fire off a few more pictures and the band
would then disappear. I suspect something is wonky ...

Unsharp maks... note the staircase in the middle, back petal.  This is
