Strange Question Revisited.22 Jun 2007 18:19 GMT6
In november last year I did ask a question which generated a lot
of response. The main subject was what course the sun would
plot in a picture if the camera is pointed exactly south.
(And when would the sun be the lowest, that is nearest to the
Nikon 18-55mm close focus usability22 Jun 2007 00:52 GMT6
One interesting feature of the Nikon 18-55mm kit zoom is that it can
focus to a 1:3.2 ratio. This could be handy for casual "macro"
shooting while walking around.
I suspect that the working distance is limited, which makes lighting
Epson printer?21 Jun 2007 22:40 GMT16
I have reached the point of putting together some photos for
local exhibit in a photography store.  My HP 8250 (6 color
inks), only prints up to 11 x 14 and somewhat larger sizes
are required for exhibiting.
Europe sucks for prices21 Jun 2007 10:11 GMT98
Wasting some time at Schiphol airport yesterday and walk into the photo
store.  (duty free)
There was a Sony-CarlZeiz 135mm f/1.8 lens (for the Alpha line).  A full
frame lens.
Why is Jessops such a terrible company?21 Jun 2007 09:34 GMT10
They used to be so good years ago.  I purchased a lovely Sony digital
camera for my daughter which has been repaired twice and now the
screen has cracked (it has NOT been dropped) and they refuse to accept
it as a warranty repair....I guess the customer is no longer right

I wonder if this would trade higher sensitivity for low color accuracy?
Sony's contrast taming technology20 Jun 2007 17:44 GMT3
I'm not sure of the function name, but can anyone tell me anything
about how Sony's contrast reduction mechanism works?  I believe it is
able to control the light at the single pixel level to prevent or
minimize issues light white blowout or dark area blockups.  Reason I
How do Leica M8s and Canon 1DmkIII get out of the lab???20 Jun 2007 16:19 GMT32
And into the hands of even rank amateurs who spot the GLARING problems
that somehow, QC at both firms missed?  Did they instead see them and
just hoped no one noticed?
Photoshop Question20 Jun 2007 11:04 GMT4
Looking for a bit of help here. Is it possible to make a gradient feather
selection in Photoshop? I may not be describing it correctly, but what I am
trying to do is select the entire image and then feather the selection from
top to bottom so that I have all the pixels at the top ...
Is a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM worth the price?20 Jun 2007 02:15 GMT8
Costco is selling this lens for $199. Would you buy it?

Rebel XT - 100mm or 100mm macro19 Jun 2007 06:11 GMT7
Not sure on which one to purchase - the 100mm or the 100mm macro. I mostly
shoot auto / motorcycle racing and other events with some social photography
thrown in for good measure. Suggestions would be appreciated!

Fool proof way to display your photos on ANY monitor19 Jun 2007 03:20 GMT9
There has been countless debates about how best to process your photos so
that when other people see them on their monitor, they look like you
intended them to. I've finally figured it out!
SO simple yet so complicated at the same time.
Too Good to be True?19 Jun 2007 01:30 GMT6
My new edition of PhotoPro has a big ad from Broadway Photo, listing among
many other things a Canon 5D for $2019.
I went online & found they have a kit of 5D + 24-105mm 4L IS for $2964.
Yes, they add an outrageous $180 for 2-day UPS, but this is still far
Oddity during dust test18 Jun 2007 21:27 GMT4
Saturday evening at about 5:15 PDT I took this shot to test for dust:
