Sigma lens KILLS this poor guy's Pentax K10D04 May 2007 14:18 GMT29
Apparently, the design of the Sigma allows inadventent disengagement
of the lens lock.
A "Bigma" did this.  Alot of good the Pentax water sealing did, you've
got to keep that lens attached!  Now I'm beginning to see why this
Nikon Teleconverter04 May 2007 09:19 GMT4
I am thinking about buying a Nikon Teleconverter for use with a D80 & Tamron
200-500mm and Nikon 70-210mm AIS lens. As I am using it on a DSLR do you go
for the 1.4 x instead of the 2X or doesn't it matter.
Thanks Bruce
AF point and evaluative metering03 May 2007 20:05 GMT5
When I bought my Rebel XT, I had problems with focussing properly. I was
told that this was due to the fact I had *all* AF points "alive", and that
the camera was mixing things up. This was discussed a few times in this
forum with the main advice being to keep the central AF ...
Sony a100 Flash problem. Need suggestions please.03 May 2007 19:54 GMT12
I just purchased the a100 a couple of days ago. My determining factor
was mainly that I already had a couple Minolta lenses and a flash. So
far, I am very pleased with the a100. I rarely take photographs above
ISO 800, so I don't worry about the noise. The picture quality is

Lens Suggestion02 May 2007 18:13 GMT2
I have a Canon Rebel xt with 50mm f/1.8 & 200mm f/2.8 lenses. After a trip
to the Supercross races last night, I found that the 200mm is a bit too long
for that type of event. Any suggestions on a zoom to compliment what I
already have? TIA
K10D indoor light auto focus hunting question02 May 2007 17:49 GMT11
This may be a weakness of the camera, but since this will be my first
DSLR, coming from a Canon A640 I'm curious how relative it is to my
own indoor dealings with auto focus.    It's obviously a great camera,
and if the low light auto focus criticism is relative to other DSLRs
St. John of The Cross on 6-9-0602 May 2007 04:46 GMT3
Saint John of The Cross says, "The Heavenly Father will always give
hope and strength that is necessary to support sound belief in every
fact of belief and/or understanding of Divine Will. Remember this."

How is this effect achieved, white background01 May 2007 18:04 GMT3
I see on many photography sites some really great effects, one in particular
is the white background? How is this acheived.  Is it done in photoshop, in
camera, or other?  I have the Nikon D80.
Seems to be that the subject is completely cropped out and just a white
Helicoid on a 70-210 4-5.601 May 2007 12:07 GMT3
Nikon service only uses new parts and they don't have the one for my
lens.  It's a Helicoid model 1B060-696.  I am in new york, actually
long island, for the week and then off to DC for a while.  Anybody
know a reputable shop that will have this part on their shelfs in
Is there a lens mount adapter for nikon d80 and seimar/rokunar lens?01 May 2007 11:19 GMT4
I have a NIkon d80 SLR and my husband has a bunch of old lenses he used to
use for his olympus ompc.  But these are generic lenses so he had to use a
lens mount adapter.  This adapter does not fit on the D80, but is there a
lens mount adapter that I can use for the D80 so I can ...
Nikon D40 vs D40x ISO newbie question01 May 2007 05:10 GMT20
From KR review of D40x
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d40x.htm
ISO 100 - 3,200. Per the laws of physics, a 10MP sensor has to run at lower
ISOs for the same performance as a 6MP sensor of the same physical size.
18-70mm versus 18-135mm Nikons, how much difference?01 May 2007 01:57 GMT10
The 18-70 is a terrific lens for a kit lens.  Ample sharpness,
contrast, etc. Good control of CA.
High distortion and noticeable vignetting but that at least is
correctable.  Now, is the 18-135mm really inferior to this lens?
