| D40X 18-55 or 18-105? | 13 May 2007 04:54 GMT | 12 |
I recently purchased the D40X and got the 18-55 lens thinking I wanted lightweight and portable. I've been taking it shooting just around the city and I feel the lack of a longer lens even in daily casual shoots.

| Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 AF | 12 May 2007 20:20 GMT | 44 |
I got a Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 AF lens used, fairly newish, supposedly for my D200 (30mm eq for film people). I like it. Small. I've been collecting MF AI Nikkor primes & it's nice to have AF, it's funny, what I do now is AF where I want then turn off AF with a flick of the left ...

| Canon EF 28-135mm IS lens comments?? | 12 May 2007 16:55 GMT | 18 |
Hi..in the pursuit to rid myself from the wretched 18-55mm 'kit lens' that came with my Canon 400d/xti rebel I'm doing as much research as possible..whilst I'm not brand loyal ( like everyone else, I want the best kit at the lowest price), I am leaning towards a canon branded ...

| Nikon D50 28 - 100mm telephoto lens | 12 May 2007 05:02 GMT | 13 |
I have the standard kits lens with my Nikon D50 which only goes up to 55mm. Would i see much of an improvement in going up to the 28 - 100mm zoom, or should i go to 70 - 300mm for my money?

| Nikon D-50 NEF file and Gimp-Linux - Questions | 11 May 2007 13:54 GMT | 30 |
Many (all?) of my Nikon owning friends tell me to ONLY use RAW! But what do I do with it in Gimp - I have one of the raw converter plugins for GIMP 2.2.11 and the results are far from satisfactory. Actually the NEF file is unusable. Today for instance I set up for Raw + JPG just ...

| Canon EOS-D400 and non-Canon flash? | 11 May 2007 03:00 GMT | 19 |
I've just bought an EOS-400D. The manual says you can use non-Canon flashguns with it but I can't work it out! The gun (a Starblitz) fires correctly on another camera's hot-shoe. I've been throught all the menus and options on the EOS and there doesn't seem to

| Dust is a HORROR I do NOT want to see again | 11 May 2007 02:35 GMT | 15 |
Three Nikons, 4 weeks, ALL developed sensor dust CLEARLY visible on their images. Four frigging weeks and MINIMAL lens changes in non- dust prone environments!! I used Olympus for over a year, nothing, no visible dust in images. Mark my words, working dust control systems

| In-camera aperture vs. In-lens aperture: What's the difference? | 10 May 2007 05:52 GMT | 22 |
I am a relative newbie to photography, and I have been trying to read some good books to teach me the basics of exposure as well as Photoshop CS2 tips and tricks. One question I have is regarding the lens aperture in respect to the camera aperture. If my lens is only

| NN Batteries | 10 May 2007 03:09 GMT | 8 |
I got some NN batteries on EBay. If your mics aren't at the park, bring them Friday. $1.00 for six batteries and $5.00 shipping. A dollar a piece isn't bad but the guy didn't know

| Is a Nikkor 18-70 a noticeable step up from a 18-55 G II kit lens? | 10 May 2007 00:02 GMT | 24 |
I've got a Nikon D40 with the kit 18-55 and the new 55-200VR. I found my 55-200 to be considerably sharper than the 18-55 GII. I've therefore made some comparisons at 55mm on a tripod that really verifies this. Maybe no surprise, as I did not expect wonders from a kit lens in this ...

| SD card: 150X or HC class 6, or HC class 6 150X? | 09 May 2007 19:32 GMT | 2 |
An explanation of the real world differences using a K10D, in fairly frequent burst mode but not heavy duty bursting (usually under 10 continuously) would be very helpful. All the references I can find are all pretty cryptic as far as this goes. Sometimes figures are

First can I say I love my D50 I have had it for about 2 weeks and it rocks. When I bought it I had saved my 52mm filers from when i had my 35mm SLR, went over to digital P&S upon the birth of my first child.
