35mm film lens on DSLR24 May 2007 03:49 GMT11
I'm trying to understand the implications of using a lens designed for a
35mm film camera with a DSLR with a smaller sensor.
I presume that because of the mirror, the lens can't be brought any
closer to the sensor plane.
Histogram readings..23 May 2007 22:58 GMT5
Hi, I have a histogram enquirey...
It is my understanding that a well exposed photo will show up as an even-ish
bell curve roughly in the middle of a histogram display...I am finding that
some of my shots are showing the nice bell-shaped curve, but oftentimes i
Upgrade from D100 to D20023 May 2007 21:50 GMT6
I have a D100 and I'm thinking of getting a D200.  Has anyone owned
both cameras and do you think the upgrade was worth it?
SLR concerns, owners experiences please.23 May 2007 20:16 GMT64
Hello! I've been digital since 1999. My first camera was a 1.3 MP Canon
A50 which I took many thousands of pics with during 6 years. Then the
Fuji F10 entered the scene with very good reviews. "Amazing" and
"revolutionary" was often mentioned. Main advantage was low-light

new computer or new video card needed?22 May 2007 22:15 GMT25
I've just purchased my first DSLR (Nikon D40X) and I'm
shooting in RAW.  I am using Capture NX to do intial
adjustments to the raw image and then saving it as a tiff.
I then open the tiff in CS3 and continue editing.
EOS 400D Utilities and Blue Screens22 May 2007 12:38 GMT8
My system is having a lot of blue screens lately. A lot more frequent
than ever before. The only thing I have installed recently that I can
remember is the Canon EOS Utilities software.
It might be somthing else but is anyone else having this happen to
Why are digital cameraimage  sizes wrong?22 May 2007 11:19 GMT17
Digital camera manufacturers provide images with a 2:3 proportion
yet no paper manufacturers produce paper with the same proportion
(with the exception of the 4x6 size prints)?
If Photo Paper is available in 4:5 proportions why aren't the camera
Good looking Cardinal at 1000mm (1500mm equiv)22 May 2007 08:24 GMT19
Taken with Nikon Fieldscope 82/D80. Uncropped, but reduced to 25% of
original size for posting. I applied usm to the bird only with amount=
100%, radius= 1 pixel (after reducing the size) and that is the only

Article from Kim Komando about online grey market buying22 May 2007 03:59 GMT2
Gray market electronics
I recently tried to buy a camera online. I had to call the seller to
verify the purchase. Customer service told me the camera was gray

cannot get Raw + JPEG on "canon digital rebel xt"22 May 2007 03:19 GMT5
I just got this Canon Digital Rebel XT (EOS 350D). When I set the
mode to any other mode than Auto (not Auto), I can go to the menu and
select the image quality as "RAW + L". That is, Raw format plus Less
compressed JPEG files. However, I am not getting a RAW file (.CR2).
Nikon D70s can't take the heat22 May 2007 01:05 GMT21
I recently toured parts of India and the humidity was low but the
skies were sunny and the temps were around 110F.  While in the sun and
heat, my D70s would periodically lock up.  What would happen is that I
would hit the shutter button and there would be no response.  The

DSLR Battery solution wanted..21 May 2007 20:46 GMT25
I am visiting Kenya, Africa in October for a 2 week safari vacation, and
very much looking forward to taking my Canon 400D along for the ride :-)
However, i have a challenge...my accomodation in Kenya will be a tent camp
(at varying locations) and as such, there isn't any access ...
Sony Alpha dust remove system is a joke21 May 2007 18:24 GMT56
I changed the lens on my camera about 5 times, when I bought it. Since August of
last year, its had the same lens on it... and there are 4 new dust specs on the
sensor!!!
What a piece of rip-off crap!
