Canon 400mm f/5.6L + TC17 Apr 2007 12:36 GMT16
That glass gets some good rep, and does not cost arm & leg. However
400mm is not quite enough for me, and I'll want to couple it with 1.4x
TC. Any real-life experience with that combo? I know I wont have AF, but
what about sharpness and overall image quality?
One more thing about the Fuji F31fd sensor17 Apr 2007 08:20 GMT5
In addition to being impressive for a 1/1.7", if they increased the
die size by 3x its width and height, it would roughly match an APS-C
sensor and it would have 38 megapixels.  Now, could anyone make a lens
to support that resolution?  According to Olympus, their pro lenses
How long does a camera last.17 Apr 2007 03:12 GMT23
I would like to know how long a camera lasts.
Offcourse I do realise that this depends on a LOT.
How long do you think your current camera is going to last you ?
(From the time you bought it till you'll replace it or not going to use it
Canadian photographic show16 Apr 2007 23:14 GMT5
The last one in Sept 2006 was pretty decent, no Photokina, but most of
the relevant new equipment was there.

Trouble: XP can find no supported memory card16 Apr 2007 17:22 GMT2
I own a Panasonic LZ20 and I bought a Toshiba 2gb SDcard. I tested it
today. I took a picture, it shows up on the LCD, but when I try to download
the image XP says there is "no supported memory card". I'm going on a trip
tomorrow! Any ideas? I can't find anything in the manual ...

Grinding the tab off a TC-14E to use with Ai lens?16 Apr 2007 04:31 GMT4
Apparently it's simple to grind off a little tab on the newer TC-14E &
TC-20EII as well. Has anyone done this? Any risk other than dust from
grinding and making it possible to bump glass trying to mount a
mismatched lens? Would I be stuck with stop-down metering? If that's the
Best settings for Canon 30D with Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 lens for baseball on bright day15 Apr 2007 23:01 GMT4
What are the best settings to use for  Canon 30D with Sigma 18-200mm
f/3.5-6.3 lens for baseball on bright day.  I'm having problems and
most of my photos are too dark.

how well does manual focus work with D20015 Apr 2007 19:03 GMT47
I'm debating taking the leap to a D200.  One concern is the number of
manual focus lenses I have and how well the D200 will work with them.
I just can't afford to replace all my lenses
These Cnef files15 Apr 2007 07:00 GMT8
I know Cnef are not "true" raw files, but I shoot them exclusively, with the
understanding that it's best for post work.
But I read an article the other day that *implied* there were serious issues
with Cnef, but offered no *practical* examples.
How to focus? -- Macro with Digital SLR14 Apr 2007 19:53 GMT12
Shooting macro at 1:1 or so... How do you focus?
It's a serious question. It's notoriously hard to focus macro. There is
little depth of field.
At 1:5 or 1:3 it's not so hard. My AF 105 Micro-Nikkor does fine in
Holy!  DSLR versus P&S look at this result!14 Apr 2007 07:37 GMT13
Not the usual outcome.  Take a look at the detail in the in the white
bottle neck label.  Moire for the DSLR, none (and sharper) for the
P&S.  Most of those miserable 1/2.5" sensored P&S cameras aren't fit
for anything, but Fuji has done a good job here.
Canon 20D - Nikon D40x, D80 - which one (and with which lens)...?14 Apr 2007 02:41 GMT8
Good evening,
I can't quite make up my mind on which digital SLR to get, and since I
believe in the "Wisdom of crowds" (*), I thought I'd ask the group.
I've finally decided to retire my old film SLR and get a digital one.
Renting the Canon 600/4???13 Apr 2007 17:42 GMT2
OK, I've tried the usual places like rentglass.com and PhotoLensRent.com and
they don't even list it as available.  Who offers this lens as a rental?
Thanks.
Rita
