Canon's Wide lenses (24mm in particular)20 Feb 2007 02:54 GMT46
I'll begin with profuse apologies for the likely fallout from this
post, but here goes.
I read many people (Nikon-fans, mostly) on this forum that love to
hate on Canon's wide-angle lenses. And over time, I'd come to believe
Kodak on the ink-price war-path...with a sense of humor :)20 Feb 2007 01:53 GMT10
I've never been a Kodak fan, myself, but their latest move against
competitors goes right after their crown jewels...  You know...their fat
wallets...that are filled by selling the world ink for the price of gold??
For the first time ever...I like Kodak's attitude.  :)
"grey cameras"20 Feb 2007 01:53 GMT71
It was mentioned here about purchasing a camera overseas, then
bringing the item to the US.  In this case, the camera may not have
the warranty as one purchased in US.  But I question how these two
cameras (or the same brand and model) would be physically different.

Flash Memory19 Feb 2007 13:09 GMT7
I am a lawyer investigating claims that some companies conspired to
fix the price of flash memory used in digital cameras.  I am
particularly interested in talking to people who purchased flash
memory from www.crucal.com.
JPEG v RAW18 Feb 2007 22:37 GMT1
I've just posted an article about the pros and cons of shooting JPEG
versus RAW files. Everyone seems to know there are many different
kinds of digital files, the two versions above included. Anyway, I've
been getting a lot of questions lately asking me to define the

28mm lens as "normal" lens on DSLR?18 Feb 2007 16:10 GMT13
I'm considering purchasing a prime 28mm lens as a "normal" lens for my
D200, thus yielding a similar angle of view to a 42mm lens on a 35mm
camera. The most obvious choice is the Nikon 28mm f/2.8 D AF. Anyone
here doing this? Any comments about such a setup? Any comments on my
The bag to use17 Feb 2007 14:09 GMT4
If you're like me, you've grown your kit to the point where it is
unreasonable to carry it around. Four or five lenses just don't travel
well, and any bag or case that will hold them certainly allows one to
do so at the cost of allowing any of it to be readily-available. Lens
Wein safe sync question17 Feb 2007 00:24 GMT3
I you a Rebel XT, and I wish to connect Strobes with a PC sync cord.  Which
safe sync do I need?  A Wein SSHSHS (hot shoe to hot shoe high voltage) or a
HSHSB (hot shoe to hot shoe safe sync) I'm not sure what the difference is.
My Smith Victor strobes are supposed to be around ...
Extension tubes for Canon 17-85??16 Feb 2007 22:06 GMT3
Do you know any possibilities for using extension tubes for
macrophotography for Canon 17-85 mm? If there are no such, could you
please give me, if you know, any offers for zoom macro lenses (from
wide angel to tele) compatible for Canon 20D with low f/, for a lower
Interesting comment in ad for Schneider line-scan lenses16 Feb 2007 06:00 GMT3

These lenses did not look cheap, though I don't know what their actual
price is.  I imagine very high since 12k
Canon lenses are more versatile and better than Nikkors!16 Feb 2007 05:27 GMT23
It's true!  Only Canon lenses can be this versatile in such demanding
situations.  I realize now that the Nikkors simply couldn't hold up under
the pressure.  Had I known how good L glass is I would have never bought
Nikkors.
Interesting new Canon comments.14 Feb 2007 23:00 GMT22

Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS is amazing...14 Feb 2007 04:48 GMT24
Never before have I had such accurate, fast, and hunt-free focus.  This lens
gets me the shots I need in exactly when I need them without turning other
lights on just so that I can focus in low light.  I now see why Canons need
Canon lenses.  Granted, they probably cripple the ...
