Use of monopod with DSLR28 Feb 2007 17:55 GMT14
I'm ready to jump from film SLR to DSLR.  Been shooting for decades, I even
sell some, but overall probably best considered an advanced hobbyist.  I have
at least one quality Canon lens I wouldn't mind carrying forward, so that's
means I'm probably looking at the 30D and 5D, but all ...

Without very much substantive to announce at PMA and PIE, they have to
"pre-announce" upcoming products.  Hopefully they'll have something new
Looking for macro lens recommendation for Canon EOS350D28 Feb 2007 05:38 GMT5
I am looking at getting a macro lens for my Canon EOS350D and was
wondering if anyone could give any input or pros/cons towards certain
ones.  I have looked at the Canon EF-S 60mm macro but the fact that it
is EF-S puts me off just incase I buy a full-frame camera in the

After reading on this ng about the lens reversal ring, I bought one and

D80 -- memory card question..28 Feb 2007 04:21 GMT19
I just purchased a memory card, it's a 2GB Toshiba (in list of
approved brands  for Nikon D80 in manual)   tested, it works fine,
only weird thing is in display where it usu. says how many photos you
can still take instead of saying "900" or something like that  it says
First pro assignment: 'studio' lighting stone sculpture portfolio28 Feb 2007 02:15 GMT20
I did this shoot last week & thought y'all might enjoy the discussion
explaining my techniques & struggles. Feel free to pick on any mistakes
I didn't notice. It looks a lot better than the P&S attempts he had
made. I just billed the guy hourly & gave him a CD with the originals, ...
Sony, what are you up to?27 Feb 2007 22:39 GMT11
How old will i be before sony release something beefier than the a100?
My 700si celebrates it's 15th birthday soon and might want to be
replaced even though it still works like a charm.
RE: Imaging Sensor Problem27 Feb 2007 21:23 GMT1
Update...I justed figured out what's causing my problem.  After
realizing that the over-exposed band was independent of all variables
except shutter speed I began suspecting the shutter instead of the
sensor.  I found several posts on dpreview.com explaining exactly how
Is depth-of-field preview that useful?27 Feb 2007 18:00 GMT35
Hello. After doing a bunch of research, I'm considering getting a
Nikon D40 as my first DSLR. My main concern right now is that it
doesn't have a depth-of-field preview feature. However, although that
seems like a useful feature on the surface, I have no idea whether it
Canon unveils the fastesh digital SLR camera27 Feb 2007 15:02 GMT1
The newly announced EOS-1D Mark III Digital SLR camera also happens to
be the fastest digital SLR camera in the world. There are so many
reason that make the EOS-1D Mark III Digital SLR camera from Canon a
sure hit with professional photographers....

Canon's new "N" replacement.  How many will really buy it?27 Feb 2007 01:19 GMT32
People got all excited when they see a new high-end Canon, but will it
sell?
Most buyers of higher-end Canon products want FF.  Is the camera (for
a sports shooter anyway) really much of a step up from the previous
For Matt Clara26 Feb 2007 14:03 GMT9
Dear Matt,
I have obviously stepped on your toes, which wasn't my intention.  I
have great respect for people who photograph weddings.  A friend once
suggested I add that to my repertoire and I told him he was out of his
Difference in 100 vs. 200 ISO.26 Feb 2007 12:24 GMT32
Is the difference in ISO 200 vs. 100 all that great? I'm looking at
Nikon vs. Canon entry-level DSLRs, and I'm concerned that the Nikons
only go to 200 ISO. I'm planning to do long-exposure low-light shots,
