10 vs 8 MP31 Jan 2007 20:09 GMT30
I am trying to decide if 10 MP is significantly better than 8MP. ( just want
to decide whether to buy Canon XTi or  30d )
The very respectfule sources say - no difference. While the image is bigger
actually Canon's 8MP CMOS is ever sharper than 10 Mop sensor.
Why does Nikon keep making FF lenses?31 Jan 2007 07:11 GMT224
They could cut their costs substantially by going with sub-FF support
lenses, even ones designed for
digital, Olympus's overpriced pro lenses notwithstanding.
Looking that this, I'd say it's a fair bet Nikon is going FF at some
Enlarging digital images - how big is big?31 Jan 2007 05:36 GMT13
With resolution and clarity equal to the original: 6.3 Megapixel image will
usually go to 24" x 32" (36" APS size) and way, way larger if you care to
introduce a "viewing distance equal to the distance needed to view all the
image without moving your head.

what's new on the "how can we possibly give a sh*t" horizon? I up and bought a D200 last night.30 Jan 2007 02:34 GMT43
Yes, after a year and a half of scavenging the D70 at work, I have finally
bought a D200.  So, I at least give a sh*t, but I'll understand if you do
not share the sentiment...
Just felt like sayin' it.
The best of red or how red is your red.29 Jan 2007 10:15 GMT2
Red is probably one of the trickiest colours to keep from "blowing out"
when it is full on RED. I brought this beauty to life using a working
colour space which let it happen.

Good EXIF Browser?29 Jan 2007 05:34 GMT69
I've been using EXIF Reader to get detailed info on pics I've taken but I'm
looking for something more for browsing while pulling EXIF info as opposed
to pulling up EXIF on a case-by-case basis.  Are there any good free
non-bloatware browsers with automatic EXIF reading and ...
Pentax K100D better than istD?28 Jan 2007 22:42 GMT4
I hear the sensor of the K100D and similar new Pentax digital SLRs
puts out sharper .JPGs than the istD did. I have an istD and found
that this was one my most important issues with it. Can anyone verify
that the K100D performs better in this respect?

Distance markings on MF lens should be converted for APS?28 Jan 2007 19:18 GMT6
Should the distance markings on old MF lenses be converted for APS with
a 1.5x factor? I'm guessing not, just the DOF markings need to be
re-thought.

D200 Focusing Problems27 Jan 2007 09:57 GMT4
This is a duplicate post from my posting in rec.photo.digital (Just
covering all bases)
I'm having a heck of a time keeping focus on moving objects w/ my D200.
I'm using a 200-400 f/4 on it, and it's set to "Active" focusing, I've
Number of Actuations27 Jan 2007 01:25 GMT14
Hello All, how can one tell how many actuations have been completed (how
many pictures taken) on a Nikon D70s and a Nikon D200.  The numbering
system in the cameras has been reset.
Many thanks, Bill
