The SICKENING HORROR of sensor dust21 Dec 2006 13:06 GMT12
The worst example I have ever seen so far....courtesy of a slob and his
Canon 30D.
Successor to the E-1, where ARE you ???

Archiving images21 Dec 2006 11:44 GMT99
I use a Nikon D70 in RAW mode. I transfer my images to my hard drive via
a card reader built into my computer. So now the RAW files are saved.
But when I work on the files, I use adjustment layers and save as a
tiff. Should I also be saving a flattened version? That would mean
Poor Pentax K10D.  Just manages a "highly recommended" on dpreview21 Dec 2006 02:34 GMT24
Not an outstanding review.  Not bad at all, but considering dpreview
gives out "highly recommended"
ratings (particularly if the camera is a Canon) it is odd the Pentax
didnt get one without reservations.

47 MP Hybrid SLR20 Dec 2006 22:35 GMT25
I'm still looking for a DSLR to replace my medium format gear, but in
the mean time wanted to share a  47MP image generated with my hybrid
film/digital workflow.   I use a Pentax 6x7 camera, scan the slides or
negatives at 4000 DPI, use Photoshop & sometimes Neat Image and make
San Diego Snow...Self Portraits...and Naps20 Dec 2006 21:42 GMT7
If you want to capture snow, you need low, angled light...and last night I
discovered that car headlights fit the bill rather well...
San Diego is known for it's mild weather year-round...but even San Diego's
local mountains can put on their own Winter display from time to time.
D50 discontinued?20 Dec 2006 20:56 GMT14
I was all set to buy a D50, called BestBuy, they said the D50 was
"discontinued" and has been replaced by the D40.
I'm baffled.  The D40 is a less powerful camera (albeit perfectly
capable).  Is this gospel?  Or just an uninformed sales person?
Bent Pin with Nikon D70s20 Dec 2006 02:59 GMT33
About two weeks ago we bought a new Nikon D70s and about a week later
it was broken. We had it sent in to fix it, believing this was all
falling under warranty, but yesterday we got the message that it
doesn't fall under warranty and they want to charge us 100 Euro.

When is the next "big" photo show?19 Dec 2006 18:24 GMT3
Just wondering.  When is the next big photo show, the kind that Nikon
and other manufacturers will use to announce new products?
I know that Photokina is the biggest of the biggest, but that's only
every two years, and they just had one last September.

Questions about ND-grad filter and colour filters.19 Dec 2006 06:04 GMT3
I purchased a red 25 filter for outdoor black and white pictures hoping that
it would yield better results than just using the red channel of a full
colour capture as it would probably get a fuller exposure and therefore less
noise and grain.  However what I find is that it is ...
SOS - magenta face??19 Dec 2006 00:34 GMT4
I am having a somewhat weird problem...
When opening a jpg or raw file in Photoshop Elements 4.0 or Nikon Capture
4.4, I can see the thumbnails showing portraits with skin colour =
magenta...
