low end cameras31 Dec 2006 23:14 GMT11
I have a Canon 350XT with three lenses. The popularity of DSLR
stretches approximately from $600 to ?.
I wanted to buy a first digital camera for my 8-year old grandson so I
started to look at the lower end P&S models. It's truly amazing how
Raw w/D20031 Dec 2006 20:49 GMT10
Help, again - if you will.
My new D200 is wonderful; however, I've downloaded the programs along with
the camera and now, my Photoshop 7 is struggling - well, in fact, my entire
computer, is struggling to open a Raw image.

Canon Lenses - Digital/Film31 Dec 2006 15:19 GMT25
I am about to purchase a Canon Digital Rebel XTi for my business, and
part of the decision depends upon my ability to use the Canon EF "L"
series lenses that I already have from my EOS film camera.
While shopping on Amazon, I saw references to to lenses being "for
Still professional journalist photography dead?31 Dec 2006 00:39 GMT21
According to an editorial in Amateur Photography, still pro photography

The "consumerization" of the low end....30 Dec 2006 22:43 GMT28
The most glaring example of this is without doubt the Nikon D40.  A
truly dismal step down from the D50, engineered by Nikon for one
purpose, to artificially maintain a price point by degrading the
feature set of the D50.  Was it REALLY needed that they shave a few
Canon 400D30 Dec 2006 02:08 GMT1
After using a 350D for over a year now, I purchased a 400D. I can tell you
that the new LCD info screen is a major improvement. The old 2 screen system
was OK, but this one is awesome. All you need to know is there at all times.
To make this purchase feasible, I told the fiancé ...

N.Y. Times claims it's all over for Canon and Nikon!29 Dec 2006 20:46 GMT17
The Times today had a full page add claiming, "If you want clear pictures
you don't want a Canon or Nikon."  They also claim that only 20% of Canon
and Nikon lenses have IS/VR.  They also claim that the Sony A100 is the only
camera to give clear sharp images with all their lenses ...

Extra lenses for Nikon D70s29 Dec 2006 17:05 GMT7
Advice on lenses welcome as I have a D70s with an 18-70 kit lens.
Looking to extend this but as a novice what should I buy - a 70-200 or
a 70-300? Nikkor, tamron or sigma? or is a fixed length better and if
so what length? With about $US200-300 equivalent what are the options?
Question regarding focus problems with Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens29 Dec 2006 03:28 GMT5
At first I thought that my EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens was not as sharp as my
50mm f/1.8 II lens but what I have now determined after many photos where
the focus seems off, is that is is about the same sharpness, but the plane
of best focus seems to be behind the selected point with ...

I have a MT-24EX flash that I have been happily using with my Canon 100mm
macro. Now I want to get the 180mm macro. Does anyone sell an adapter to use
this combination?

Resequencing Photos28 Dec 2006 21:41 GMT3
I took about 900 photos on a recent trip.  At the end of each day, I would
review them.  I would enlarge/crop many.  This would save the modified
photos well out of numerical sequence.  I want to use my camera hooked up to
a TV to show them.  I used Irfanview to resequence them ...
