Pentax lenses06 Nov 2006 01:30 GMT14
Just looking around for lens availability in case I did make the switch
to Pentax sometime in the future.  At least here in the US I'm not
finding any longer Pentax-branded lenses, just Sigmas and Tamrons.
I'm still not all that familiar with the mount so what lenses do you
Nikon 10mp reality check05 Nov 2006 22:30 GMT7
The 6mp sensors of the D70/50 capture more than enough picture information
for the vast majority of users. At least that is my impression after using
a D70,  a Sony 828 (8mp) and now a D80 (10mps).
Depending on color depth D80 file sizes range from about 30-60mbs and larger
Canon!!  Wake up!!!!05 Nov 2006 14:16 GMT117
As a Canon guy, I must say that Nikon just set a good example for Canon by
releasing a VERY extensive firmware upgrade for the D2X, D200 and D2Hs.
Changes include major differences including more ISO choices, menu changes,
and more functionality to buttons.
Canon 5D and noise05 Nov 2006 13:08 GMT12
On the last edition of popular photography, the winner of "photographer of
the year" took this picture of one of the subjects of the "Bodies..."
exhibition with a canon EOS 5D using 1/200 sec at f/7.1 and ISO 1600. The
published picture is almost 2 pages big, very low light and I ...
"Play" in focusing - Nikon 50mm F1.405 Nov 2006 12:58 GMT6
I purchased a 50mm F1.4 AF lens for use with a D200.   I notice that
there seems to be a fraction of an inch (maybe 1/16th) play in the
focusing ring after the autofocus has done it work.  Is this normal?
I have just moved to autofocus and digital.
Sigma SD14 image in Digital Photo Pro mag05 Nov 2006 01:00 GMT6
It's a 2 page spread.  The image looks a bit different than a typical
digital image, but it does look good.
Looks like it came from a 12 meg CCD.
Any chance of a new version of the Canon 100-400 IS?04 Nov 2006 23:11 GMT6
I've been thinking about getting a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS
USM.  Has anyone heard anything about an updated version in the near
future, like maybe with second- or third-generation IS?  I'd hate to
buy one now, then find out a new and improved version is coming out

70-200 f4 IS + C-PL04 Nov 2006 18:09 GMT1
Asking for input from anybody who has used Canon's new EF
70-200mm f4 L IS lens with a circular polorizer on a 30D DSLR.
My concern is how well dose this combination focus, does the
addition of the C-PL slow down or make focusing less accurate?  After
Night photography04 Nov 2006 14:29 GMT6
I am taking pictures at an outdoor Church event, Lighting will be low and I
will not be able to use a  tripod.  Mostly snapshots of the crowd having a
good time.   Using an Rebel XT w/ a 430EX flash.   Choice of a 28-105mm
3.5-4.5 Canon II USM or a Sigma 28-70mm 2.8-4 DG.  Any ...
PSE4 and VISTA04 Nov 2006 08:08 GMT8
Ran the VISTA compatibility wizzard and PSE4 was flagged as incompatible
(among others, including NERO).
Aside from PSE5, anyone know if ADOBE will be upgrading its existing
software for the VISTA tsunami??

rattling around in my old camcorder bag.

Nokon D200 Reset Switch03 Nov 2006 04:06 GMT17
My Nikon D70s has a Reset Switch that is described on page 200 of the
manual. From the manual it sounds as if it resets the camera to its original
configuration.
My Nikon D200 has the same switch on the bottom of the camera, at least that
