60mm or 100mm portrait lens for APS-C format cameras08 Nov 2006 12:44 GMT6
I'm looking at either a EF-S 60mm Macro or an EF 100mm Macro that I could
also use as a portrait lens.  The 1.6 multiplication factor provided by the
APS-C format digital camera will give a 60mm lens a 96mm perspective.  This
is where my thinking gets fuzzy.  I think that to get ...

20D remote release - what do I need?08 Nov 2006 09:29 GMT6
I want to buy a remote shutter release for my 20D, preferably a wireless
one of some sort. Googling around left me somewhat bewildered - there's
loads of options on release cables, and most websites seem to give
partial or conflicting information about camera compatibility, etc.
SanDisk Ultra II or Extreme III for The Nikon D70 ?08 Nov 2006 03:40 GMT14
Now that RAW seems a better choice than JPG for getting higher quality
photos with the digital SLR, I wonder if anyone knows what will the
difference be in performance for my Nikon D70 if I choose a 4 Gigabyte
CF Ultra II instead of an Extreme III, or should I better choose the
Aperture update 1.5.108 Nov 2006 00:17 GMT1
Besides fixing various things and performance enhancements, it includes
RAW updates for the Nikon D80, Canon 400D, and various other new DSLRs.
Leica M8  Best crop-frame pictures yet?07 Nov 2006 15:49 GMT124
I saw some images from this thing recently.  First time I've seen
images at 100% that didn't look like they needed sharpening.  I don't
know what Leica did, but it looks like people will get their money's
worth, even though the rig with a 50mm f2 lens will cost about
Two weeks!07 Nov 2006 12:52 GMT42
Til the K10D is released. :-(
The wait is killing me. I have just about worn out the manual I had printed.

Backup camera body for a 1DMII - any other bodies use NP-E3 batteries?07 Nov 2006 08:19 GMT1
I'm looking into getting a "backup" body for my 1DMII.  I'd like to
use the same batteries in the backup body so I don't need to maintain
fully charged sets of 2 different types of batteries.  Do any of the
Canon cameras outside the 1D line use the NP-E3 battery, or do any of
Cats and flash07 Nov 2006 08:14 GMT20
With the digital cameras I've used over the past few years I had a
problem with my cat's eyes always being closed when I used flash.  Of
course all of these cameras had the built in flash which was more than
adequate for most shooting. One handy aspect of these is the built in
D200 Hummingbird shots 105/2.8 VR + 2x TC07 Nov 2006 06:01 GMT4
D200 Hummingbird shots 105/2.8 VR + 2x TC
Living in an apartment with no feeder, my opportunities are limited but
these turned out pretty well I think for handheld, no flash cropped grab
shots.
Amateur wedding photos - how to meter?06 Nov 2006 23:22 GMT40
I'm one of the guests at a small wedding party in a couple of weeks - 22
people in all. There will be no official photographer or videographer so the
guests have been asked to shoot away and grab what they can. I believe I
will be the only person with a DSLR and suspect that ...
Suggestions for a tripod?06 Nov 2006 21:03 GMT15
I would like to get a tripod as mine is a tad out of date and very old, but
there seems to be about a zillion of them to choose from.
Anyone have any suggestions for a nice *not overly expensive* tripod for the
average photographer?
Nikon DX2 firmware upgrade issue06 Nov 2006 13:51 GMT11
Anybody (apart from me, that is) having issues with the upgrade of the
firmware from 1.01 to 2.0?
The "B" firmware updates ok, but after trying to update the "A" firmware
(running all instructions as per the Nikon web site), this remains as 1.01.

Thanks
