Pentax K10D and DNG/RAW issues30 Nov 2006 11:36 GMT24
The documentation that came with my K10D said its DNG output could only
be read by the Pentax software that came with it.  The DNG was unreadable
in Paint Shop Pro X, the only image editor I have which "claims" to
accept DNG.
Digital camera sensor performance30 Nov 2006 10:33 GMT18
I have a new page up describing digital camera sensor performance
for a fair range in digital cameras and commercial sensors.
Enough data has now been measured to show trends in full-well
capacity, dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratios,

We're doing something different in CreativePhoto. We're using a lot
of photographs inserted into the text to illustrate the articles. The
photographs also make it much more interesting visually. So, following
up on the last issue of the newsletter we're continuing the
Picking the proper lens for your 5D30 Nov 2006 01:28 GMT37
There's absolutely no sense in buying a 5D unless you are going to mate it
with the proper lens.

Digital Cemera Medium Reciprocity Failure29 Nov 2006 20:14 GMT11
I was doing some night work last night at about 1130 pm and after I'd
finished I was wondering if there's a need to factor in reciprocity failure
for the exposure times when using a digital slr.
Any info would be interesting
Q about very long exposures29 Nov 2006 18:24 GMT7
I have a D200 which works fine in "normal" circumstances. However I tried to
do a long night exposure--about 3 minutes--and found that the top sides and
bottom middle of the frame were "washed out" with pink flare--looking almost
like light-struck film. Further tests showed that ...
Off topic: Ilford vs. Red River29 Nov 2006 15:30 GMT2
This is off topic, I posted it in the printers NG and received no
response. This group seems knowledgeable in many areas.  Just saw the
Red River Paper Co. website    http://www.redriverpaper.com/
Very happy with Ilford paper. Has anyone used both Red River and
Teleconverters and Canon 70-300, IS,f4-5.6 USM29 Nov 2006 13:09 GMT25
Is there a teleconverter that will work with this lens?
Tamron 90mm focusing mechanism clutch29 Nov 2006 02:40 GMT2
I have a Tamron 90mm lens. This lens has a screw drive AF mechanism
(I'm talking about Nikon mount). To switch to MF, one can simply slide
the focus ring back, and the AF disengages; it's then possible to focus
manually without setting the camera to MF (which retracts the AF
Plastic cameras and the dust issue (Nikon's findings)29 Nov 2006 01:51 GMT22
According to Nikon, they've begun a process whereby the shutter
mechanism on each D80 is fired a few times prior to shipping the
camera.  The camera is then internally-cleaned to get rid of any
particles left over from the machining process.  Nikon contends that
Apparently, noise isn't the number one issue to everyone28 Nov 2006 06:39 GMT6
Most-recent issue (in Canada) of the Brit magazine Amateur Photography
put the Sony A100 against the Canon Rebel XTi.  They rated the Sony
higher in most aspects including image quality.  What swayed them was
not noise levels but sharpness and detail.  The Sony (of the 10 megs
Sigma 18-125mm27 Nov 2006 23:01 GMT2
Thinking of getting a "Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC " for my Canon 350D
camera.
Any one got the lens and are thy happy with it.
I only have the kit lens up to now, but reasonable pleased with it.
Newbie question for Rebel XT owners27 Nov 2006 21:20 GMT6
I just took my new Digital Rebel XT out of the box and read the manual, and
thought I had figured out the basics.  I have been taking some pictures with
the camera and they have come out quite nicely, for the most part.  The
problem that I can't figure out how to solve is the ...
Pentax flash system27 Nov 2006 19:42 GMT10
I have gathered that Nikon has the best flash system available. I come
from old manual lens system and consider to move to digital and plan
to buy Pentax K10D. I am only a hobbyist but I do some seriuos jobs
for a shop complex were I work myself. I just want to point that I do
