Canon EF 70-200 mm F4L IS USM lens27 Oct 2006 19:40 GMT16
Has anyone gotten the Canon
Canon EF 70-200 mm F4L IS USM lens?
If so, how do you like it?  Anyone know of
a review comparing it to the f/2.8 version?
Something rare to shoot27 Oct 2006 03:37 GMT7
I shot the last Venus transit which was very rare.  The Mecury transits
aren't that rare, but they aren't common either.  A 300mm or larger
lens will do the trick, but telescopes will do a better job.  You also
need a suitable solar filter for the lens.  Either solar film
Advice on lens sharpness26 Oct 2006 22:54 GMT27
Came into a bit of money and thought that I would update my EOS350D with an
L lens.  Always wanted one of these since I have a 50E many moons ago.  Did
a bit of research and purchased a 24-105 F4 L.  I just wanted the best
walkabout lens that I could afford that wwas not too heavy, ...
Sigma 18-200 mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS26 Oct 2006 20:57 GMT17
Has anyone found any information on the coast and availability of this
new Sigma lens. Mind you, it's the "OS" version. See here:

Nikon D-SLR depreciation?26 Oct 2006 12:37 GMT15
Is there a rule of thumb for Nikon digital SLR depreciation?
I am thinking of the D70 in particular.
Thanks.
Mirror lens26 Oct 2006 09:07 GMT49
I'm kinda interested in long focal length lens. My longest now is 400mm,
so I would be looking for at least 600-700mm, and I do not fancy TCs.
I'm aware of mirror lens limitations, but for the price it seems like a
nice toy... I cant afford >500mm refractor-type lens for sure.
The "metal chassis" scam26 Oct 2006 03:00 GMT37
I've noticed alot of mfgs, stung by criticism of their plastic camera
bodies, have been touting
"metal chassis" or "s/s chassis."  My question to them is, what good is
it if the body, the thing

I hate meat and Bottles26 Oct 2006 02:22 GMT3
I work in a small food shop. We decided to build a Photo archive for
use in advertisment etc. 2 proff photographer gave prices which were
three times as we had in budjet. As we couldn't afford this expence I
accepted to do the job and another guy accepted to lend me his photo

Proof that Full Frame dSLRs will be the norm25 Oct 2006 20:48 GMT9
Ever notice how the Sony Alpha's newly designed lenses (not Minolta
rebrands) are compatible with 35mm format?  The lenses for 35mm format
made sense for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc.  because they had to worry
about compatibility with their film cameras.
Lumix DMC-L125 Oct 2006 15:27 GMT7
Hi.  Very new here.  Was looking at the Lumix DMC-L1K to replace my D70 for
the more snap-shooty jobs.  I have a couple of questions that I can't seem
to find answers on:
1) Can an eyeglasses wearer see the whole frame in the VF?
Camera custom shops25 Oct 2006 14:32 GMT1
I have been wondering lately why camera companys don't have custom shops
for thier products. You can get everything from cars to firearms with
customizations from the manufacturer, why not cameras? They could offer a
different view screen and tweaking the firmware for special ...
Hesitation in going to dSLR25 Oct 2006 04:20 GMT16
I am an amateur in digital photography. I am currently comparing
Pentax K100D with the dSLR like in Fuji s6500/60000. I know that
Pentax will be my ultimate choice but I have hesitation with the deep
learning curve in the beginning and the bag of lens in street
