Primary V Zoom04 Sep 2006 20:20 GMT5
I have a Nikon D70 & prefer landscape photography. Currently I use a Sigma
10 - 20 mm zoom but when I used a Nikon F2 I just had a primary 28mm Nikkor,
is the quality of say a 18mm Primary lens better than a wide angle zoom.

What photos do you most like taking with a digital SLR camera?04 Sep 2006 19:13 GMT9
As I'm looking to purchase a digital SLR camera, what photos do you
personally most like taking (or what one/s do you find turn out much
better) on a digital SLR camera and please say why.
If anyone can provide links, to either their own web page/s, or that of
New to DSLR04 Sep 2006 17:08 GMT5
Just bought myself a Canon 350D (second hand) on eBay. It comes with the kit
Canon EFS 18-55mm lens and a Sigma AF 28-70mm lens.
I am led to believe that the kit lens isn't all that good, but that the
Sigma is a decent lens.
Olympus Evolt-500 for $1200?!04 Sep 2006 02:32 GMT4
Personally, I dont get why anyone would go for it, but...
...this outfit has the Evolt-500 for $1200.

Same shot, but 1/4th second (actually .03 seconds, which is even slower).

Wide angle IS makes sense...03 Sep 2006 13:26 GMT10
The question of IS/VR usefulness still seems to come up a lot.  -Especially
questions about why anyone would care to have IS at wide angle.  Here's an
example of a room that was VERY dimly lit (despite the brighter look due to
purposeful exposure).  This is hand-held at 24mm ...
New Nikon DSLRs at Photokina??03 Sep 2006 09:13 GMT9
Thom Hogan says that it will be the D3h. There are hints of another
consumer camera (D60?) to replace the D50.
Sooo.
D3h?
Canon 30D focus autofocus accuracy with f/1.8 lens02 Sep 2006 20:05 GMT14
I got the 50 mm f/1.8 AF lens for my new Canaon 30D.
It is much sharper than the 18-55 zoom that comes with the
camera, at f/3 to f/8 or so.
The autofocus works good enough on three dimensional
setting FPS on canon 1DMark II camera02 Sep 2006 12:06 GMT3
Is there a way to set the FPS on a 1D Mark II to exactly 5 frames per
second?  I'd like to test how that actually works shooting the
subjects I usually shoot (horses, athletics) at a high FPS rate before
renting or buying a body (such as the 30D) that maxes at 5 FPS.  I

I already have the 2.8 version, but many are going to jump on this one...

Old Equipment and Kodachrome Photography01 Sep 2006 19:00 GMT10
I'm a fifites freak and bought an Kodak Instamatic at a thrift
store--the thing is built (it's heavy).
I'm wondering what other people use old equipment. Any photos to look
at that you scanned?
Canon teleconverter compatibility01 Sep 2006 15:52 GMT2
I have a Rebel XT with the EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM lens and will probably
get the new EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM lens when it arrives.  Are there any
metering or AF compatibility issues between this setup and the canon 1.4x or
2x Extenders?
High ISO noise CCD's vs CMOS01 Sep 2006 15:49 GMT46
Ok, I'm in the market for my first DSLR (upgrade from 35 mm SLR and
Nikon 5700).
I've been looking at reviews on the Sony A100, Nikon D80/D200 and Canon
30D.
D200 owners, pls do a test for me (and for yourselves)01 Sep 2006 13:48 GMT19
I have had a D200 for about eight months, and while I generally love it, it
has been plagued with a disturbing number of problems.
First was the long banding--I believe they replaced the sensor to fix that,
but afterward pixels started dying. First I had three dead pixels remapped,
