Sigma's "Bigma"30 Sep 2006 23:51 GMT7
I am considering the purchase of the Sigma 50-500mm lens, AKA Bigma for
nature and sports photography (outdoors).  From what I have read there
are more positive opinions than negative.  What are the experiences of
this group?

Anyone bought a Fuji S3 UVIR yet?30 Sep 2006 21:55 GMT2
It's a fair bit cheaper than Canon's 20Da which was a "kind of" IR
camera with a partial filter.  The Fuji's spectrum coverage is 350nm to
over 1000nm.  It should produce some interesting
pictures.

The site appears to be down for some time now - has everyone finally been
banned?
Fix RSE 2006 for Pentax K100D, K110D :^)30 Sep 2006 11:36 GMT1
If you have been happily using RawShooter Essentials 2006 with your *ist-
series Pentax and just added or upgraded to a K100D or K110D... you have
found RSE won't load your new PEF raw files.  And the "improved" software
from Pentax is still very slow and clunky by comparison.
Helen's Merc30 Sep 2006 02:54 GMT12
I for one am impressed by her taste if not by her subtlety (or lack
thereof). Even if Rich and Mark don't I would like to ride in your
Merc. If I'm good, may I drive it?

Rebel XT/350D re-boot30 Sep 2006 00:40 GMT7
Today, something very peculiar happen while shooting with my Canon Rebel
XT/350D.  The camera wouldn't "fire".  It was working fine, a few seconds
later taking another shot, I couldn't get the shutter to go.  The camera
would Auto-Focus and seem to do everything else except shoot ...
Where to buy 12x18 photo albums??29 Sep 2006 23:58 GMT15
I've Googled...hunted...and failed...
Does anyone know of a source for LARGE albums which will display 12x18
photos...preferably without extra space...specifically for 12x18 or larger
3:2 ration prints?  I'm talking about albums with covered pages made for
Where are the Canon 400D full reviews?29 Sep 2006 19:07 GMT9
The Canon Digital Rebel XTi or 400D is on the shelves in the stores. I could
have one this afternoon, but the camera review websites all seem to just
have preproduction models, advertising copy and "previews" which are not
much more than just advertising and feature lists.
Why don't Canon and Nikon make lenses for Nikons and Canons?29 Sep 2006 09:55 GMT18
Since both Canon and Nikon know how to make lenses, why don't they make
lenses for each other's cameras?  If Sigma and Tamron can make lenses
for Canons, surely Nikon can too.  Is there some kind of licensing
issue?
Pentax K10D vs Nikon D80 ?28 Sep 2006 23:01 GMT3
Have been wondering much the same thing. The Pentax/Samsung looks very
appealing to me because of the weather seals. Was pretty much sold on
getting a D80 until the Pentax  came out. I'm interested in
opinions/perspectives on the Pentax K10D vs Nikon D80. To date I have

Could this be a good landscape camera?28 Sep 2006 19:47 GMT9
I joking suggested some months ago that a fixed lens camera with a 5
meg CMOS/CCD derived from an APS sized sensor might make a superior
compact camera.  I never thought someone would make a fixed-lens
camera like this.
Why are there no modular (except Leica's) DSLRs?28 Sep 2006 17:54 GMT4
Is cost control so paramount they can't make a really basic DSLR you
could add to at future dates? Imagine if it was possible to slip out a
module with a 5 meg CCD and put in one with 10?  Or 20?  Or add a
feature onto the camera you don't initially buy?  Do lowlight with a
