Lens Hoods06 Aug 2006 23:37 GMT30
I've been using a SLR for years and have never bothered with 'lens
hoods', except on a 300 mm telephoto, where the lens hood is built-in.
In the process of upgrading to a D-SLR, I've noticed that lens hoods are
pushed very hard.

I have checked out the cost of three diferent circular polarizers for
my D70s and they range in price from $75.00 to $239.00. The most
expensive one is the BW brand.  Hoya in the middle and Optex the
cheapest My question is, do you get what you pay for?  How big is the

D200 plus AF-S Nikkor ED 300mm f/2.8 DII IF05 Aug 2006 21:27 GMT19
Hi experts,
My wife just got this lens (a used one) for her D200.
In the docs I read that it is recommended to always use a filter (that
is to be inserted in a filter pocket).

My cameras are a mess, both my point-and-shoot (which I think the best
way to do this is post a message (about camera shopping) here...to
people with experience with DSLR cameras.
So to help me can you answer this question...

Antarctica-images: bookpublisher wanted05 Aug 2006 09:43 GMT5
I sailed to Antarctica on a square rigged barque last december (see the
Antarctica-section on my website:
http://www.thijsheslenfeld.com/frameset.php?catId=19&photoId=425 ) and sold
my images and articles on this trip quiet good. I am now planning to do a
teleconvertor with fisheye?05 Aug 2006 03:03 GMT3
Just an observation I decided to share.
I just tried putting my Peleng 8mm f/3.5 180 degree circular fisheye onto a
2x teleconvertor.
Wow, suddenly it is a 16mm f/7 full-frame fisheye.  The diagonal is was
Lens creep advice04 Aug 2006 13:53 GMT8
I bought a second hand canon 35-135 IS lens which developed zoom creep.
I sent it back and it was returned after a service, however, I've now
noticed it is quite tight and a bit slower to respond when auto
focusing.  Is this normal after the service and will it naturally
Where to buy Nikon 18-200mm VR II?04 Aug 2006 01:11 GMT47
I've been searching for weeks now, and no vendor carries the 18-200mm
Nikkor lens in stock.  Ebay is selling it way overpriced!  Does anyone
have any leads?

Canon's response to Nikon 10MP03 Aug 2006 12:47 GMT40
I'm getting excited by all of the new camera talk from Nikon!  And
guessing about the competitive moves from the competition.
The Rebel XT is getting cheaper at Costco, and rumor has it that the
30D is getting cheaper too.  Will Canon put out a 10MP version of the
Nikon D70 Blinking Green Light of Death02 Aug 2006 02:25 GMT3
I have a D70 that I haven't used since I got a D200 about two months ago. I
got it out to take as a second camera, but it isn't working. I did some web
searching and found a few references to a similar situation described as the
Blinking Green Light of Death and to a service notice ...
Are D200 and D70 batteries interchangable?01 Aug 2006 19:05 GMT4
I have searched on the net and can't find the answer to this question.  The
D70 has the EN-EL3 battery and the D200 the EN-EL3e.  The D70 one has two
contacts the the D200 one has three, but they use the same charger.  They
are also the same voltage.  Please let me know if they ...
