Canon 350D Flash20 Aug 2006 00:15 GMT9
I have recently bought a Canon 350D.  I am yet to work out how to
manually turn the flash on or off in any of the modes.
I know that there is the "Flash Off" mode, but it would be nice if you
are using, for example, the "Macro" or "Portrait" mode to be be able to
Working with RAW20 Aug 2006 00:08 GMT25
I am trying (fort the first time) to open a RAW file that I shot with my
D70. I'm using Photoshop7.
When I "Open as" I get a dialog box that shows the following:
Size: 5416900 bytes
New DSLRs still with 12-bit conversion only19 Aug 2006 18:51 GMT28
There are people scanning 4x5 film at 48 bit depth in order not to ruin
the images when  they are manipulated digitally.  Isn't it time for
consumer
DSLRs to at least go to 14 bits?  Most professional CCD cameras provide
About the Sony Alpha100 RAW converter.19 Aug 2006 17:57 GMT30
I finally got around to installing the Sony RAW converter - it's pretty good, it
has all the bells and whistles you'd expect, ( like Adobe Lightroom I suppose
but since Adobe can't run a simple web site I couldn't get their software so
screw them but I digress...)

Think I read it somewhere recently.

Ok, there's walmart and target for the family photos, but there must be some
online service that you send your digital file and get a professionaly

Rebel XT battery grip and AA battery life18 Aug 2006 16:24 GMT7
I'm heading to China for a 2 1/2 week trip and recntly bought a battery grip
for my Rebel XT.  It's the only electronic item I'll be bringing so in order
to leave my adapters and charger home I was thinking about using AA
batteries in the grip.
D200 on telescope?18 Aug 2006 13:25 GMT30
I've got a Meade 4" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope which (in theory) can be
used as a 1000mm lens (if I did the math right, it should be just about
f/11).  Adapter mounts are available at quite reasonable prices to hook it
up to a Nikon lens mount (I'm ordering one today).
Canon Digital Rebel XT & Flash17 Aug 2006 21:49 GMT5
I have an old solartec st320 flash which is not dedicated to the Rebel XT.
Is there any mode or setting on the camera that would work with this flash?
The flash has a multiple burst mode of 3, 6, or 10 plus other features. I
would need a hot shoe adapter to connect the flash but ...

Does it exist?
I want software that can catalog Canon RAW files (extract EXIF data,
autorotate, etc), and let me organize them by person, date, keyword,

About Adobe Camera Raw17 Aug 2006 12:57 GMT12
Does anyone know if the raw input of Elements 4 is the same as the full feature

I have Elements 4 and I don't want to blow $850 on software that has the same
raw ability...
Closeup comparison of 18-70 kit lenses, D70 and A10017 Aug 2006 03:29 GMT15
I just shot pic's of coins with the Nikon D70 and the Sony A100 using the kit
lenses, both set to 70mm.
Both lenses focus up to about 8" from the front of the lens, which are both
about the same length, however, the object image in the Sony is twice the size
