Olympus SP-500UZ23 Aug 2006 18:05 GMT4
I have just bought my wife the Olympus SP-500UZ as a good point & shoot
camera with RAW. The problem is when I choose to set the jpg value to it's
highest setting SHQ when I switch the camera off/on it resets the
compression to the lower HQ setting. Has any one got this camera that ...
Photoshop 622 Aug 2006 22:59 GMT12
I've got Photoshop 6 & Nikon D70. I can't find the Adobe plugin that will
work with Photoshop 6 ,is there a way of doing this.
Would I be better getting Photoshop Elements (but I need one to work in
Windows 2000) or is Photoshop 6 still  a better option.
Canon EOS 30D and 350D?22 Aug 2006 15:55 GMT9
OK, i saw a thread about 20D and 350D,but still, i would like to have your
opinion about other two models 30D or 350D - which one to bought - if it's
OK to compare them. It seems that 30d is much better than 350D, but more
expensive, sure. Currently i have Canon S2 compact, but ...
backpack22 Aug 2006 07:20 GMT2
I'm shopping for a backpack to carry my photo stuff. It's a dslr (sony a100)
with kit lens + 2 lenses (18-80 and 70-200) + minolta maxxum 4000 flash. I'm
looking at the tamrac product line and I liked the velocity and travel pack
series, but I also need to carry a camcorder, ...
Nikon R1 Wireless Close-up Speedlight System22 Aug 2006 01:56 GMT5
This kit is identical to the R1C1 Wireless Close-up Speedlight System,
except it does not include the SU-80 Speedlight Commander. You would
only want this commander if you did not already have the SB-800
Speedlight (or if you wanted to use the SB-800 somewhere else and you
Canon 20D or the 350D?21 Aug 2006 20:58 GMT5
I checked out the Canon 20D on the beach today.
It had the kit lens(Super Wide Angle EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6,
the focal length is equivalent to approx. 28-90mm in 35mm format.)
The zoom is less than on most P&S.
Adobe Photoshop CS2 Academic vs Retail21 Aug 2006 16:41 GMT12
I have been shopping for Photoshop CS2 and on some seller sites it states
"Academic box. This is the same program as the retail box and is legal for
both commercial and educational use. "
Is this really the same version, and if so, why would anyone want to by the
Adobe lightroom21 Aug 2006 16:36 GMT11
I'm sorry if it's been discussed before, but what do you guys think or adobe
lightroom (from adobe labs, the same folks that were macromedia labs one
day)?
I know, it's still beta (nowadays some products never leave beta... go

Nikon cross-type sensor21 Aug 2006 13:26 GMT7
Here's something on which I can't seem to find anything conclusive. In
relation to the autofocus systems in several Nikon cameras:
"...the center AF sensor is cross-type, able to respond to subject
detail oriented either horizontally or vertically..."
Amateur seeking advice21 Aug 2006 10:47 GMT8
Hi there. This might be the wrong group but it seems like a very good
place to start. I'm a beginner planning to buy an SLR camera in the
next few weeks as I'm going to Canada in September - some of the most
beautiful scenery on the planet. I'd like some advice about the best
where is external  flash EXIF data20 Aug 2006 22:19 GMT2
In looking at the exif data for my canon 20d used with canon 430ex flash (as
displayed in photoshop CS),  I do not see flash exposure compensation. I
tried turning the flash down 1 stop, once on the flash itself, and
separately via the camera, and do not see anything in the exif ...
Slightly OT: Converting old Photographs to Digital20 Aug 2006 19:37 GMT15
This is slightly off-topic here, so apologies if there's a better group
to ask this question.
I've a number of old photographs spanning some 25-30 years that I'd like
to scan in and keep as digital images.

Which Polarizer?20 Aug 2006 06:15 GMT65
I have a Canon XT with a Sigma DC 18-200mm 1:3.5-6.3 lens, so obviously
I'm not a Pro!
However I'm trying to decide on a circular polarizer filter for enhancing
sky colors and minimizing reflections.
