Sony working on a FF?29 Aug 2006 08:12 GMT17
Apparently, one of the Zeiss lenses coming out for the Sony supports
FF.  Could this be Sony's pro model?  It's a long shot though.  None of
the other announced lenses appear to support it.
Megapixel Saturation Is Coming?28 Aug 2006 22:25 GMT2
There's consumer level, there's prosumer level, and there's
professional level.  At what point will the consumer level be saturated
with over megapixelization?
It was 3 megapixels in 2002, 6 megapixels in 2004, 8 megapixels in
The next EF-S lens will be...28 Aug 2006 22:07 GMT22
Any idea on what, and when, the next EF-S lens from Canon will be
released?
There are only 4 EF-S lenses on the market right now.  And there was
roughly a 2-year gap between the latest release (17-55mm in 2006) and
Couldn't open RAW files in photoshop?28 Aug 2006 18:56 GMT21
I shot some RAW's with Canon 30D and photoshop CS2 doesn't open either of
them...so, could someone be so nice and tell me what is it that i'm doing
wrong? I get an error: "Could not complete your request beacause it is not
the right kind of document"
Sometimes, old film lenses don't work too well28 Aug 2006 18:39 GMT2
Some, like Olympus's OM standard 50mm prime lenses are amazingly good.
Even moderate zooms, but other times, watch out!  When I showed this on
dpreview, some figured it could mostly be due to the lack of
parallelism of the light rays coming out the back of the Vivitar, which
Disadvantages of a 1.6X SLR camera?28 Aug 2006 16:41 GMT21
Newbie question about Canon dslr cameras:
Is there a significant advantage to having a full-frame body camera, as
opposed to the 1.6x ones?
Obviously, lens compatibility is an issue.  The full frame cameras have
dslr video out to CRT (not to TV)28 Aug 2006 16:17 GMT5
I have a Canon 350D (digital rebel) and want to view the photos I'm taking on an
external CRT (computer monitor) that is not connected to a computer. That is, be
able to see the images live on the CRT as the pic is taken, just as one would
when taking the pics through a computer. ...
Battery grip question28 Aug 2006 02:58 GMT14
Are Canon battery grips operational when there's a battery in the
camera but no batteries in the grip?
Thanks in advance for any answers. :)
Canon 18-55 small-format lens27 Aug 2006 23:30 GMT9
I just bought the old 30D camera (one week before the XTi is
announced, and I can't return the thing for free, argh),
with the standard zoom lens. (I do love the body, however,
so maybe the extra $500 is OK).
Canon DSLR tethered using Mac OS X27 Aug 2006 18:26 GMT2
Under Mac os10.4.7, what software to use from Canon that'll let you
shoot tethered? I've four different CD's from Canon, and updated the
most recent "regular" one, as well as the :"pro" version.
Yet I am baffled as to how to shoot tethered, or whether it's even
Nikon RAW pictures on Archos PMA 430 ?27 Aug 2006 17:54 GMT3
do you think that by any chance it would be possible to view NEF -
files on that Archos PMA430 ? By default it does not handle
RAW-formats, but maybe there is a possibillity to install an
application, that could handle this ?
Why do they use goofy names for products?27 Aug 2006 09:00 GMT7
Why not a name telling exactly what the product is?
Super Spectra coatings
In addition to optimised lens shapings to reduce reflections and the
use of anti-reflective material inside the lens barrel, the EF 50mm
Newbie-Rebel XT Lens27 Aug 2006 08:03 GMT9
I have been trying out a new Rebel XT with standard kit lense (18-55),
and am thinking about making the plunge and purchasing the camera.  But
I have read several reviews stating that I could do better than the
lens included in the kit, and was thinking that perhaps I should just
Canon 1D Mark II N CR2 file viewer/sorter?27 Aug 2006 01:42 GMT7
Irfanview 3.98 is not working right to view Canon 1D Mark II N raw
(CR2) files.  I need to sort/chimp thru a few thousand shots from an
event on Sunday.  I've been using Adobe Lightroom, but it's DOG SLOW
and the UI is horrible (no indication if it has "read" a click or not,
