Sony Alpha's dynamic range compensation20 Jul 2006 20:54 GMT3
Supposedly, if this works, it should make the Sony even more capable
than the Fuji S3
at handling scenes of widly different levels of illumination.
How to convince D200 to focus on far object?20 Jul 2006 14:18 GMT20
A butterfly landed on a lilac outside my kitchen window, so I grabbed my
D200, with the 18-200 set to 200 and started taking pictures right though
the window screen.
I had the AF-Area mode set to single-area, and the butterfly just about
Ultimate Lens Toolbox for Nikon DSLR?20 Jul 2006 12:54 GMT12
Friends,
What would the ultimate lens toolkit be for an aspiring photographer to be
able to shoot a full gamut of styles and needs as a sideline business with
Nikon D Series?.
Article on vignetting in Photonics Spectra for July20 Jul 2006 12:41 GMT2
They used a Kodak FF CCD and Nikon and Zeiss lenses to do the testing.
Vignetting occurs because the lenses can't provide full illumination at
wide apertures (the edge light rays are blocked by the internal lens
aperture).  This is allowed because of the aberrations that would occur
Waterfalls - Part I Article20 Jul 2006 12:04 GMT56
I have just posted Part I of a four part series on photographing
waterfalls. The first article focuses on the basics of setting up for a
waterfall shot. The subsequent articles focus on the more advanced
issues encountered when shooting a waterfall. The article can be found
Nikon D50 overexposes20 Jul 2006 07:59 GMT24
I've read many suggestions and comments on how to compensate for
overexposure with the D50.  But I'm not convinced that I am getting the
sharpness that I expected.  I wore out the Canon Digital Rebel, but was
pleased with the sharpness it produced outdoors.  The D50 just does not ...
Canon DRebel Disappointment20 Jul 2006 05:39 GMT21
I am trying to take a picture of a fluorescent mineral.
I need to suppress the built in flash
control the aperture for depth of field
set down the exposure compensation so the highlights don't get
Olympus Evolt e-500 and promaster 575020 Jul 2006 05:00 GMT3
I have a Olympus E-Volt e-500 and Promaster 5750 with olympus Digital
TTL module.
I've read both manual for flash and camera, but I can't get the flash
to 'work'. The ready light on the flash comes on, but the TTL light
Calumet calamity?20 Jul 2006 04:47 GMT6
How can this be?
Just received my July/August edition of the Calumet Focus newsletter,
including deals on camera gear.
There are 2 sections. One entitled 'Special Offers' has the Sigma SD9
Zoom Only These Days?20 Jul 2006 00:26 GMT20
The last time I was "into" lenses was when I became somewhat familiar with
Canon's FD lineup (1979).  Well, so much for THAT anymore...   <sigh>
Back then, the main thing I learned was that it takes a LOT of money to
purchase a truly GOOD, brand name lens.
Where to buy Cannon Rebel Digital20 Jul 2006 00:06 GMT3
Any reccomendations on good pricing and customer service for Cannon Rebel
Digital?  Could also be used.
Thanks,.
Minolta Thoughts..19 Jul 2006 22:56 GMT59
Does anyone have a good guess how long it will be until full frame sensors
become the norm rather than the exception.  (Like when they reach the
cameras at the level just above a digital Rebel is a good example).  I have
a large investment in a Maxxum 7 and eight nice lenses that ...
Advice needed19 Jul 2006 04:40 GMT7
I've a Konica Minolta 5D and have found the inbuilt flash too small for
photos inside at a distance of more than about 4m.  What sort of size
flash would people recommend?

Help Please - Image recovery CF Card.19 Jul 2006 04:07 GMT15
Just returned from a "once in a lifetime" holiday and discovered that one of the cards I was using was formatted after download BUT - I failed to check that all the images had been written to the computer before re-formatting the card.
The camera is a Nikon D70 (Compact Flash ...
Compact Flash Speed19 Jul 2006 03:36 GMT4
How significant is the advertised speeds (Ultra, Extreme, Extreme II,
Extreme III, etc) in reducing write times to the flash.
I have a Canon 350D (XT) and typically show in Raw mode. Will I notice any
difference between these higher priced cards vs the cheaper
