Recommended lenses for Pentax *ist DL26 Jul 2006 05:57 GMT9
I'm just getting into digital SLR photography and was wondering what lenses
other *ist owners use. I'm currently using the DA 18-55mm kit lens but
would like get better results when taking shots in low-light situations.
Thanks.
Two cameras, two magazines, two opposed opinions26 Jul 2006 01:36 GMT10
Magazine 1:  "The D200 has less noise at high ISOs than the 30D."
Magazine 2:  "The 30D has less noise at high ISOs than the D200."
I've seen identical scenes shot with both cameras.  The D200 definitely

ENOUGH with the frigging penguins!25 Jul 2006 23:09 GMT13
Ever since that stupid movie came out, I've been seeing these things
on camera magazines
and in camera magazines.  Penguins are pretty much equal to one
another.  You've seen
50-200/2.825 Jul 2006 20:55 GMT10
On 1.6x sensor, 50-200/2.8 should be more useful than 70-200/2.8. And
since 50mm is not wide angle, it should be easier than a wide to
portrait zoom, like 28-85/2.8. 50-200/2.8 should also be useful on full
frame. Is the 4x zoom too difficult? If so, is 50-150/2.8 useful on
F--- Adobe25 Jul 2006 00:55 GMT27
Lightroom's beta for Windows requires SP2 to work.
I've installed SP2 on three occasions and each time ran into serious
problems.
That Adobe requires this (what the Hell do they care about the security
New Sigma lense, maybe good for portraits?24 Jul 2006 22:09 GMT36
Sigma is about to release a new prime 70 mm f 2.8 lens, a macro,
that might be a wonderful "105 mm" on D-SLRs if it has nice bokeh.
Any thoughts?

2GB SD card: card readers won't read it!24 Jul 2006 13:23 GMT3
I'm not sure whether this question is best asked here or in a Windows
group, but you folks are the ones who probably use large cards, so
someone here may be knowledgeable...
I recently got a 2GB SD card to use in my Pentax *ist DS. I upgraded the

Not the 18-200mm VR, but another quite hard to find Nikon lens.

Is the Nikon 28mm f/1.4 worth it on a DSLR?23 Jul 2006 01:42 GMT6
I have a chance to buy this lens for a decent price.  My concern since
Nikon discontinued production is if it is worth the extra cash or is it
overkill on a DSLR?
Exposure Not Consistent on D20023 Jul 2006 01:23 GMT20
Group,
I just got a new D200 last week and after shooting my first baseball game
with it was in love.  Then I shot another game last evening and was shocked
at the photos once I looked at them on the computer.  The exposures were
Nikkor 200mm micro vs 60mm micro?22 Jul 2006 14:56 GMT6
I recently bought a 60mm Nikkor micro lens for my Nikon D50, and I love it.
I've taken some great pictures with it, but I've found the following (one of
which I had considered beforehand):
1) I have to get really close to reach minimal focal distance and thus

Travel Insurance21 Jul 2006 13:26 GMT3
I'm from the UK, going to Spain for a few weeks and struggling to find
a travel insurance policy that will cover "valuables" or "high risk
items" such as camera kit for more than about 400 quid.  Any
suggestions?
Cleaning Sensor21 Jul 2006 02:13 GMT8
After having been on holiday & changing lenes I have aquired dust spots, so
I bought a methonol cleaning kit for the D70. To check it I then take a
photo of a white A4 sheet, but I still have 2 spots which is a big
improvement. These do not show up unless they fall on a highlight. Is ...
