| Photographer / Artist? You decide. | 10 Jun 2006 16:09 GMT | 52 |
Two photographers in the exact same field. One I would call a photographer and one I would call an artist. To me the difference is clear although of course completely subjective. I'd be interested in your thoughts as to who you think is the artist of

| DSLR + Zoom + dusk/night: focusing tips? | 10 Jun 2006 02:43 GMT | 6 |
So with my little fixed lens 35SE Rollei I just turn the focus ring all the way over, and Tada, focused on infinity. With my (any?) DSLR + zoom (D50, 18-55) and trying to shoot sunsets over islands in the woods - or trees & the Moon, focusing seems to be a pain. I miss the ...

I'll have mine tomorrow. I'm paying $800. My dealer got a few, but had four times as many people on their wait list. I'm posting this so that those interested can start pestering their dealers. I just happened to contact them this morning. Not sure if I would have gotten it if I ...

| Nikon D50 - no auto shutoff? | 09 Jun 2006 17:00 GMT | 9 |
Disappointed that the Nikon D50 will remain on. I would have thought that there would be an automatic shutoff after x number of seconds. Or is there, and I just can't find it in the manual?

| Canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM issues resolved? | 09 Jun 2006 01:25 GMT | 5 |
I read a little while back that the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens had some issues. Can't remember the exact details, but I think it had something to do with sharpness, and Canon didn't know what caused it.

| Nikon D70 exposure > 30 seconds | 08 Jun 2006 22:35 GMT | 12 |
The 'bulb' functionality allows me to expose for > 30 seconds providing a keep my finger on the button. Even on a tripod the camera moves slightly. Is there a way to increase the maximum exposure to more than 30 seconds but without using the 'bulb' function?

| Q: Why do DSLRs need mirrors and prisms? | 08 Jun 2006 05:29 GMT | 76 |
Maybe this question has been discussed here before, but I'll ask again: Other than being a holdover from the film SLR design, what is the reason that DSLRs still have mirror boxes and pentaprisms? It seems

| focus speed on the 70-200AF-S versus 80-200AF-S | 07 Jun 2006 22:03 GMT | 2 |
I was in a dealer the other day, and the salesman was expounding upon how great the newer 70-200AF-S was in terms of focus speed over my 80-200/2.8 AF-S, which I have always thought was stunningly good in that category.
