DSLR lens(es) choice to match FZ30 zoom range?12 Jun 2006 07:17 GMT60
I've been deliberating for a couple of weeks now whether to buy a Panasonic
FZ30 with its 35mm-420mm equivalent f2.8-3.7 zoom or to go all out and get a
DSLR with suitable lenses. I am now in no doubt that based on handling,
operational speed, viewfinder and sensor quality the ...
Selective file copy12 Jun 2006 06:12 GMT4
I need to copy/move JPG files out of a folder containing NEF and JPGs.
With MSDOS years ago, I would just "copy *.jpg" to another folder. That
command would leave the NEF files and copy only the JPGs.  Does anybody
know how to do this with Windows?
SanDisk extreme II en III12 Jun 2006 03:49 GMT8
Simple question:   I've got a D70s,  would I benefit from an extreme
III CF as opposed to an extreme II card?
Thanks,
Kris
Sony A100 - shortcomings11 Jun 2006 23:05 GMT3
While of course glad that the camera is in the birthing process and that
it is somewhat up to date in sensor pixel count, I can't help but see
what's missing from it:  (Please correct any errors I may have made).

Something interesting at a local outlet store11 Jun 2006 21:39 GMT2
Henry's outlet store in Toronto was dumping off a bunch of older
lenses, off brands, etc,
for $20/ea.  But mixed in with these were a handful of Canon 50mm f1.8
FD series lenses
Why does the D200 have a QUAL button?11 Jun 2006 20:52 GMT13
I've had my D200 for under a week now, and I'm just learning how it works.
I can see why you would want ISO and WB buttons in a convenient place
because those are things that seem like you would be changing whenever the
lighting changes, which could be almost every shot.

Canon 5D Infrared Photography Tests11 Jun 2006 15:10 GMT9
I've been testing the Canon 5D with a Hoya R72 IR filter. The results
are up here

or you can also find it with the other 16 cameras tested this way here:
Pentax *ist DS and fast Pentax A lenses11 Jun 2006 10:20 GMT6
I have the opportunity to pick up a used Pentax A 400mm/f2.8 ED-IF to use
with my *ist DS -- I've used my Promaster 70-300mm 4-5.6 exclusively up to
now in wildlife photography, and feel that I need to make a move up to
improve my image quality and composition.  Other than the ...
How many 1600 ISO shots end up on display?11 Jun 2006 09:09 GMT5
Anyone notice you hardly ever see such things on sites like Pbase?
Makes me wonder if they are anything more (from cameras capable
of taking a 1600-3200 ISO shot of quality) than "utility shots" taken
because there was no other way to get them.  I've yet to see
Canon 10-22mm or Sigma 10-20mm?11 Jun 2006 05:18 GMT11
I'm new to this group, having finally made the jump and sold all my
Contax/Yashica gear to fund a Canon 30D, 17-40 f/4L and 70-200 f/4L.
I'm enjoying getting to grips with all this, but I already know my next
move will be to cover the wider-angle end (I've saved my longest 35mm
Will D50's light meter work with Nikkor 50mm f1.4?11 Jun 2006 03:54 GMT3
Would my D50's light meter work with a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 manual focus lens?
Thanks for any info...

What stop are you at?11 Jun 2006 01:00 GMT13
An open question for the optical geniuses around here:
The recent discussion of optical design and the true definition of
aperture ratio (along with the definitions of "entrance pupil" and
everything that discusses actual lens design as opposed to the
30D Vs Rebel XT help newbie!!10 Jun 2006 23:13 GMT82
I am currently using a Elan 7 film camera. I am thinking of
switching to Digital camera. I am debating between a 30D and Rebel XT.
I understand they are different animal. From my little research  as far
as i can decipher the differences is as follows:
