Strange coloration problems with D70...19 Jun 2006 02:12 GMT15
Since I started playing with this new 18-200 VR lens, I've seen
some strange things happening with photos that are 'backlit'.
With or without the sunshade, with or without a filter on the
lens.
D70s and 1600iso19 Jun 2006 00:57 GMT11
I've shot twice with 1600iso since i've got my D70s recently.
One time was with dark cloudy wheather and one time at night seeing
only neon and street lights.
In both cases the noise was very disturbing!  (When using film, the
Tripod screw "keeper"19 Jun 2006 00:11 GMT19
The monopod I recently bought came with a threaded plastic cap on the
screw. It seemed a useful addition - keeping the threads protected and
protecting stuff that may come in contact with the screw during
transit.
New Sigma 4/3 lenses, out when?18 Jun 2006 19:30 GMT16
On February 26th, Sigma announced a bunch of lenses for the 4/3
system.  Well, here it is a quarter-year later and there doesn't seem to
be any more concrete information.  One guy on http://www.4-3system.com
says he's heard release dates ranging from May to July.  I talked to a

Have Minolta 85/1.4, 50/1.4 lenses from 700si, do they fit any digital slrs?18 Jun 2006 02:25 GMT8
I'm considering buying a digital SLR, and I already have these lense
(Minolta 85/1.4, 50/1.4) from an old 700si film camera. Do these lenses
work well on any current digital cameras?
Cheers,

First shot doesn't take with Minolta 7D17 Jun 2006 19:38 GMT4
I have a Minolta 7D digital SLR.
When I use the camera after it has been idle for a couple of days or
more, the first photo I shoot usually doesn't take.    The shutter
fires and the camera automatically turns itself off.  The picture taken
Sony A100 vs Canon D20/30 vs Digital Rebel XT17 Jun 2006 16:14 GMT8
The Sony at $1000 kit seems to fall in between Canon's D20/30 series ($1100
for D20 Kit, $$1500 for D30 Kit) and the Digital Rebel XT ($650 for kit
after deducting the current $100 rebate.
How does price/performance stack up?  Sony offers a better lens than the
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II - a good lens?17 Jun 2006 15:32 GMT8
Canon 20D.
I want a medium tele for product shots of suitcase sized objects.  I'm
looking for a wide aperture for shallow DOF. My EF 85mm f/1.8 USM tele
takes nice pictures, but it is just a bit too long for my cramped studio.
Nikon 50mm 1.8 AF non-D vs. D17 Jun 2006 10:26 GMT8
I recently purchased a Nikon 50mm 1.8 AF lens (used) for my D50. I am
guessing this lens was from the mid 80's (perhaps on a 4004?). Made in
Japan from the labels.
It seems to work well on the D50 and seemed to be a relative bargain. I

CF cards or photo bank?16 Jun 2006 22:04 GMT18
A upcoming lengthy holiday is going to stretch the two memory cards I have
for my 20D ( they're 1 gig each) and I'm tossing up between buying more
cards, or getting a small portable disk storage, maybe 40 gig. I reckon on
needing about 5 gig in total for my trip. I'm wondering if ...

Best lens for Digital Rebel XT - is the kit lens worth $70?16 Jun 2006 17:15 GMT18
With the $100 rebate, now may be a good time to buy a digital Rebel XT.   I
see you can buy it without a lens or for $85 more the 18-55 mm kit lens.  Is
the kit lens worth it (dpreview says it is not too good) and if not what
lens would you put the $85 savings towards?
