Rebel XT vs.D5006 Apr 2006 21:50 GMT25
Why is the Canon Rebel XT ($700 J&R) more than the Nikon D50($580 J&R)?
They are both entry level SLRs, and seem to have similar features;
the D50 has 6.1mp while the XT 8mp, but is that all?
While the Pentax *iST-DL 6mp is even less at $460.
Flash Outdoors06 Apr 2006 20:37 GMT1
Have a D70 & SB800 combination - excellent for most things, but I feel that
I need quite a bit more light for outdoor shots at night (in the middle of
nowhere).
Do any of you have any reasonably priced recommendations, please?
D100 vs. D20005 Apr 2006 22:06 GMT1
I've got a D100 and have gotten a lot of use out of it.  Some of the
things I don't like are the slowness of getting the picture to the
compact flash and it has a tendency to under expose.  I'm considering
replacing it with a D200.  Would anyone care to comment?  I'm not a pro
Sigma - difference between DG and older lenses05 Apr 2006 16:50 GMT2
Regarding the sigma 70-300 apo macro, what is the difference between the
older one made for 35mm and the new 'DG' one ? Is the fov for both changed
to the equivalent of x1.6 on dslrs ? Can the DG be used on a 35mm, and can
an older non-DG model fit the rebel xt?

Selling photos online. Not prints, but digital copies.05 Apr 2006 09:28 GMT6
Hi all, this group has been quite helpful so far, so I thought I'd ping
the group expertise yet again.
I'm interested in posting some picture galleries online, but want to
sell the digital files, not prints. Do any of the reputable services
Olympus E-500 or Canon Rebel XT05 Apr 2006 03:08 GMT12
A quick question (at least I hope it's quick), would one recommend the
Olympus E-500 dual-lens kit or the Canon Rebel XT.  (Prices in my area
are similar between the two.)  I'm interested in both outdoors and
indoors photography.  I owned a Minolta X300 (Europe) back in the day,
Which Lens to Buy?04 Apr 2006 20:14 GMT6
i have a Nikon D70s with the standard 18-70 lens. i am planning to buy
a new lens and i love the  Nikn 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens. But it is too
expensive for me at this stage.
Could you recommend any other lens (Sigma / Tamron or Nikkor itself)
D200 side bag  ?04 Apr 2006 19:12 GMT3
Anyone know of a "fanny pack" style solution to carrying a D200. I'm kinda
fed up with carrying a towel lined rucksack!
small bag recommendation for camera with zoom lens04 Apr 2006 17:33 GMT16
I'm looking for a bag recommendation for:
* Canon 5D
* Canon 70-200 2.8 IS (about 7.7" long high preference for it being
attached to the camera)
Reasons why I bought the Canon 30D04 Apr 2006 13:53 GMT1
A few weeks ago, when the 30D was announced, I posted that  I was
disappointed with the 30D. The reason for this disappointment was
that I was expecting a 10+MP camera. I own a 10D so was expecting an
increase from 6MP to 10MP...a worthwhile improvement to justify the
1:1 reproduction ratio?04 Apr 2006 00:37 GMT5
What does it mean when the description of a macro lens says, "reproduction
ratios of up to 1:1"?  Clearly, I can display or print the image at any
size I want, and get any magnification ratio at all.
Old fogey needs some advice03 Apr 2006 22:11 GMT39
I used to be a pretty good amateur photographer (used a 35 mm film
SLR), but for a variety of reasons I haven't done much photography in
the past 15 years or so. I'm getting back into it now, but I need some
advice.
Suggestions for Nikon D200 kit??03 Apr 2006 17:46 GMT24
OK, people, I have some money to spend.
What would you suggest to order along with a D200 body? I am interested in
mostly country sports, action shots, etc. and am usually inclined to use
telephotos rather than wide angles. I have read various debates about the
