Why do photolab digital prints not look right?16 Apr 2006 19:04 GMT34
I took some of my pictures from the Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D) in to
Superstore's photolab http://www.photolab.ca/Brand/en/PhotolabHP.asp to have
prints made.
I used the kiosk to order the prints in 6x4" and I now have the prints back
Pentax PEF file format changes each time for a new DSLR model?16 Apr 2006 17:48 GMT4
Whilst I am really excited to see a new lineup of Pentax DSLR to come,
I am disappointed that to see the RAW file format of this new DSLR has
probably been changed, again, as in the recent two years. The fact is
that the "PEF" RAW file formatS of the *ist D, *ist DS, *ist DL are all

First DSLR, upgrade from Coolpix 990, suggestions please16 Apr 2006 04:26 GMT19
I've been using a Coolpix 990 to shoot various odds and ends of computer
hardware for years.  Decided to try it instead of my old Leica M to shoot a
local sporting event the other day and realized that while it's very nice
for electronics in a studio, it has severe deficiencies for ...

Why many settings arguments don't matter with RAW15 Apr 2006 14:25 GMT74
I often see some religious discussions regarding certain camera
settings, and wonder why they go on at all in a world of RAW pictures.
(None of this post is relevant if you shoot in JPG.)
sRGB vs Adobe RGB:  Since this conversion happens after interpretation
marks on back glass of lens a problem?15 Apr 2006 10:56 GMT13
I'm looking at a used lens described as having 'marks on back glass' but
I think this is where it would be a big problem, right? A little scratch
on the front is no big deal but the back?
Understanding resolution15 Apr 2006 01:01 GMT10
First a little background. I was asked to take a group photo. I have a
D70 and a couple of lenses, the one I used was my Nikkor 24-120 VR. In
previous years, the photographer (no longer with us) used a medium
format (Hasselblad, IIRC) and I knew I couldn't approach the resolution
(Price of) 30D Vs D20014 Apr 2006 23:25 GMT6
The street price of the D200 is more than 50% dearer than the 30D.
Could you folks tell me is there any reason(s) to go for a D200 for a
new starter (whom don't have neither C nor N lenses)?
To me, the 30D and the D200 are more or less in the same market segment
