| RRS L-Plate & Body Plate | 20 Apr 2006 23:16 GMT | 7 |
I am looking at the RRS site for a L-bracket for 20D without battery grip. The L-pate (B20D-L) is $140. Do I need to buy the body plate (B20D), which is $55, as well?

| Questions on Nikon 105 VR macro lens | 19 Apr 2006 22:15 GMT | 19 |
Now that I have a D-SLR I can start thinking about more lenses. One that interests me is a macro lens. It could be useful for pictures of plants. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0602/06022103nikonafsvr105.asp Question #1: What does "offering reproduction ratios of up to 1:1" mean?

| EFS lens and teleconverter? | 19 Apr 2006 21:29 GMT | 11 |
Hi all, I have a Canon 70-300 DO IS (EFS mount) and generally happy as it is not huge and white.. however, finding that with wildlife shots i just cant get close enough so thinking of adding a teleconverter rather than spending out on a longer, heavier expensive lens. I have looked ...

| 30D vc. KM D7d | 19 Apr 2006 16:45 GMT | 1 |
If you have to choose, which one would you buy? And why? At the time I have KM D7d with Sigma lenses. Will Canon body work better with Sigma or Canon lenses than KM body? (AF etc.)

| The most obnoxious thing with the D200 is... | 19 Apr 2006 07:18 GMT | 39 |
...the strap. It has a big Nikon D200 on each side of it. Now I'd rather not be at a parade and blatantly advertising that I have a better camera than you. Maybe it can be scraped off?

| New Lens | 19 Apr 2006 03:30 GMT | 7 |
I just wrote a book--see blog http://digitalartphotographyfordummies.blogspot.com/ I'm new to the group. I used a Rebel XT dSLR and a Rebel film camera for the nearly 300 pictures I had to submit to my publisher.

| Pictures of inside B&H | 19 Apr 2006 02:32 GMT | 12 |
Last week, needing a case for my new camera, I paid B&H a visit. And with the D200 being able to take good pictures at 400 ISO, means I can now get decent inside pictures of a large space. So I put up the B&H pictures that I took. Start with this picture:

| Capture One conversion versus Silkypix | 18 Apr 2006 21:13 GMT | 6 |
I'd heard that Capture One worked very well with Canon and Nikon RAW images, perhaps better than most other conversion programs out there. This is an Olympus E-1 file converted by it and Silkypix. The

| Fill flash and "bokeh" | 18 Apr 2006 00:34 GMT | 2 |
Need a lens for my 20D which will, on a bright sunny day, allow me to shoot at f/4 or so, use high speed sync fill flash with the 580ex, getting me close enough to the subject for a headshot. Whaddaya think, the 85mm f/1.8 will do it? Longer lenses might put me out

| Question about subject's smile | 17 Apr 2006 22:11 GMT | 7 |
Seems pretty traditional for a photographer to tell his or her subject to say "cheese" when they take their picture. Is that the best word to use to cue a subject to smile, especially for kids? Just wondering.

| Question about tripod | 17 Apr 2006 18:23 GMT | 4 |
I have a question about what to expect from a new tripod system I purchased. I have a Gitzo 1228 Mk2 Reporter with a Kirk BH-3 head on the way. I have never used such a nice support system for my photography in the past, but figured it would be right to get a good start rather than ...
