Meters are for suckers30 Apr 2006 18:28 GMT11
(Title not quite right, but sort of...)
I've recently begun to add strobe lighting to my photography hobby, and
wanted to know if my approach is off for studio work.
Everyone touts the merits of using a meter, and for film photography,
drugstore lab guy and the missing print...30 Apr 2006 13:36 GMT2
So, I pick out 15 kid-snapshots, and for fun, one (perhaps) really great
photo of a rural stream reflecting grasses and trees, drop my SD card
into the Kiosk at a national chain pharmacy, pick one each 4x6 prints,
and in 15 minutes or so, get my envelope of photos, pay, and run ...
New Epson storage and photo viewer30 Apr 2006 08:50 GMT7
Epson has just release a new storage and photo viewer device that looks
most interesting. It is not release in the US yet as far as I can tell.
Details here <http://www.dimagemaker.com/article.php?articleID=513>
The big thing is that it can display RAW files from most cameras
Sanyo VPC-HD1 high-def camcorder records to SD flash memory!30 Apr 2006 04:52 GMT1
You may have heard by now of the Sanyo VPC-HD1, a revolutionary new
camcorder that records in 720p to SD flash memory (up to 88 minutes in
HD using a 4GB card).  It can also record in SD, shoots 5.1MP stills
(it can shoot stills at the same time your  shooting video).  You then
Printing "Slick" Brochures  -  Should I Use IRIS or Epson?29 Apr 2006 16:56 GMT12
I am a newbie who is confused by the debate between printer users.
Epson users claim several things against IRIS printers.
They claim:

"Ideal" Camera/computer bag for travelling29 Apr 2006 14:02 GMT5
I am looking for a camera bag for travelling that has the following
characteristics:
1) room for dslr with 2-3 lenses, extra battery, flash, charger,
computer/video cables and various sundries (perhaps a monopod)
spyder arrived28 Apr 2006 22:47 GMT10
don't think much of the print fix plus but the spyder itself and the 2.1
software seems okay.  It does ask you to do alot of adjustment before the
calibration but after a few screens it also suggests factory default.
anyway looking at the before and after all i can see is that my ...

Canon 580EX users, question ?28 Apr 2006 14:04 GMT10
I have the Canon 20D and have put off buying the 580EX due to the cost.
For those who use this flash, would you buy it if you had it all to do
over again  or what flash would you get if you chose another ?  Thanks
Joey
Electrical issues with camera-lens connections28 Apr 2006 12:53 GMT1
It's possible this could be part of the problem and "cleaning" the
contacts to resolve it
isn't cleaning them of dirt, but of wear particles of adjacent
connection points that have allowed
spot on nikon d70 pictures... what could be the problem28 Apr 2006 12:20 GMT5
My d70 just came out of the 1 year warranty period - and I realized
that all the pictures have a spot on the upper right corner

Have you ever started out not charging for your photo work?28 Apr 2006 08:12 GMT54
About a month ago, I shot 5X7 digital portraits for a parent/child youth
group event.  These were done indoor with a simple backdrop (white butcher
paper) and a few props (1950's).  I used my Canon 20D on a tripod and used
studio strobes for flash. I ended up taking 120 portraits ...

Price drop from $499 to $299 (I'm assuming USD). There is some
speculation on how bad the code is, although this is the first I've
Strange B&H shopping cart handling...28 Apr 2006 04:37 GMT16
First of all, I love B&H in general.  That said, the way they
handle orders and items that are not in stock is a bit bizarre.
Notice that most online sellers will allow you to place an order
(back-order) something that is out of stock, and they'll do some
Olympus E-330 noise tests27 Apr 2006 23:30 GMT1
I've placed a review of the E-330 from an image noise perspective up on
