Traveling question07 Feb 2006 03:36 GMT20
I will be traveling to Australia (Sydney and Alice Springs) for 2 weeks in
February. I plan to transport my D70 and lenses and laptop via carryon
backpack. After arrival, I will probably not carry the whole rig with me,
but transfer the camera to a smaller bag. I will be staying ...
viewing images on laptop before i shoot the photo07 Feb 2006 03:33 GMT5
I've just got the Canon Marks 1Ds and a new G4 Powerbook to work with
it. I would like to see on my computer the same image I see on my view
finder before I shoot the picture. If you have any knowledge, I will
appreciate your input and experience on the subject.
Best 80 to 200mm lens for D7007 Feb 2006 02:19 GMT10
I have a Nikon D70.  It came with the kit lens AF 70 to 300mm 4.5 to 6 G lens.  I am not really impressed with long distance shots with this lens.  I want to get a good lens like a 80 to 200mm AF D Nikon.  I figure I am looking at about a grand for this lens, but I hope to have ...
Compatible Teleconverter Lens for Canon 350D Rebel XT 8.006 Feb 2006 23:46 GMT6
I am new to the Digital SLR world.  Recently purchased a Canon 350D Rebel XT
8.0 and need to know what teleconverters are compatible with this camera.
Also is the Vivitar 3X that was compatible with the EOS SLR Film Camera,
compatible with the Digital camera?
chimping06 Feb 2006 14:42 GMT52
It seems that people disparage against a dslr photographer reviewing shots
as he/she takes them.  They call it "chimping", I guess to compare those who
do so with the simple and amusing actions of a chimpanzee.  Apparently the
idea is that a "real" photographer would _know_ what ...
Nikon D50 versus Lumix FZ3006 Feb 2006 11:13 GMT5
I just purchased the D50 and can try it out for 30 days from Walmart
($665.00).  This is the only place I found where I can actually try out the
camera at home, put it though its paces, and truly see if it is for me. So
far, I like it.  But I can't compare it personally to other ...
Open RAW Survey06 Feb 2006 07:17 GMT1
You may have seen this already.
A bit overdone and some questions are repetitive (sanity checks perhaps)

Buying old lens : VIVITAR 58MM NIKON/ NIKKOR compatible MACRO/ ZOOM Lens06 Feb 2006 04:56 GMT4
I have a D70s and want to get into macro photography (but don't have
the budget).
I am getting an old lens : VIVITAR 58MM NIKON/ NIKKOR compatible MACRO/
ZOOM Lens with N mount but the seller says it works fine with his D70
Nikon future lenses?06 Feb 2006 03:12 GMT20
I'm getting an itch to buy a Nikon telephoto zoom, the 80-400 doesn't float
my boat and whilst I love the performance of the 70-200 the focal length
coverage isn't what I'm after, ideally I would want the equivalent of
Canon's 100-300 USM (the Nikon 200-400 would be fantastic but ...
Beginner Looking for DSLR Advice05 Feb 2006 23:02 GMT25
I am just about to make the jump from a Nikon 5700 to my first DSLR. I am
looking at two unit and was wondering some things.
I am looking at a Olympus E-300 with 2 lenses and a E-500 with 1 lense. Both
around the same price . Is the e-500 a much better camera than the E-300 ?
DSLR better for manual focus than P/S at night?05 Feb 2006 20:16 GMT11
I've been struggling a bit with pushing my P/S digital (Panasonic FZ30) to
long exposures at maximum zoom at night, taking 30-60 second exposures at
420 mm.  My photographic objectives are typically 4-5 miles away, across a
body of water, and, when I view the structures I'm ...
Pentax K to Canon EOS mount adaptor?05 Feb 2006 18:44 GMT37
Is there any such thing on this planet? And, is there any possible
mechanical conflict(s) when my KAF-mount lenses are mounted on the EOS
body, with the mount adaptor (if any) used?
TIA for any help and info!
Infrant ReadyNAS X604 Feb 2006 23:43 GMT2
Not exactly SLR related, but an issue everyone with a dSLR has to deal
with at some point:  robust content storage.  I recently obtained the
X6, finally deciding that babying various ad hoc disk drives and
computers isn't a job fit for a human being, so why not just get a

A photo from the first batch I've ever shot at Yosemite:

There's a lot of noise in the shadows from using the Shadows/Highlights tool
in Photoshop.  Other than a grad neutral density filter or taking two shots
