Rebel XT sounds15 Feb 2006 04:27 GMT32
The fake (I think) sound of film winding through the camera on my new Rebel
XT is driving me nuts.  Is there any way to shut it off?  There is nothing
in the manual.  My old Sony DSC828 also made this sound, but it could be
shut off.
help with aperture math15 Feb 2006 02:18 GMT18
I'm trying to understand apertures.  I know that if F2 @ 1/500s then F2.8 @
1/250s and F4 @ 1/125s and F5.6 @ 1/60s..
Where do the seemingly odd numbers 2.8 and 5.6 come from?  This must have
something to do with PI and area of a circle?
Photographer's Rights - written by an attorney13 Feb 2006 20:59 GMT112
I recently found this one-page writeup of photographers' rights and
want to share this with fellow photographers.

This was written by an attorney in the USA, and might not apply in

Shooting through a telescope - need advice13 Feb 2006 00:34 GMT17
My neighbor just gave me a Meade ETX 90 telescope, and I just purchased a T
adaptor for it and a T-Mount for my D70.  The book says to put the telescope
in polar mode and use the motor, which I understand, but anybody have any
other tips for shooting through a telescope?  I don't ...

Non-OEM battery packs for Canon12 Feb 2006 22:22 GMT9
Canon's NB-2LH battery pack (for the EOS 350D) seems a tad pricey.  Can
anyone recommend a good alternative?  I saw some really cheap ones on
eBay, but I'm not keen on one without any name on it.
Canon lenses12 Feb 2006 19:19 GMT4
I have a Canon EOS Rebel  35mm camera, which came with a 35-88mm lense. i
also bought a 80-200mm EF lense. If I buy a canon digital slr, will these
lenses work? Possibly a silly question, but if you don't ask...

For anyone interested, here are some Olympus supplied images from the
E-330's new, unknown-quantity, 7.1Mp sensor.

Sadly I've only got a crappy LCD monitor at the moment and of course
D200 and raw files12 Feb 2006 15:16 GMT14
Is there a good source of information I read up on regarding using raw
format in my workflow (camera->Adobe Photoshop CS), I have heard that I
may not be able to diddle the raw files directly from photoshop. I
would also like to get the skinny on what the advantages are in using
re: Olympus SP-35012 Feb 2006 01:14 GMT6
I am thinking about buying this camera:

Why this is 8 megapixel considerably cheaper than other 8 megapixel
cameras? Of course, lesser price is great, but it almost raises a red

Converter question for Nikon Lens....10 Feb 2006 22:27 GMT6
I recently purchased a Nikon Zoom Telephoto AF Zoom Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8D ED. I would like to purchase a converter for it.  I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this lens and a converter.  It is my understanding that I would loose the auto focus ability and loose a ...
CDs and DVDs for archival of images.10 Feb 2006 12:50 GMT23
Dear Members:
I am about to archive images to optical media and in light of recent debates
surrounding the issue of CDs x DVDs in terms of reliability I decided to do
some research first before choosing the media for the job.
